Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address all three requested points: you identify that the neighbours moved in recently, explain that their late-night gaming disrupts your sleep and work, and ask the agency to resolve the matter. The purpose is clear, and mentioning that you have already spoken to them twice gives useful context. However, the start of the problem is not precise: “recently” does not say when it began, while “last month” refers to when you rented the flat. The effects are relevant but could be developed more clearly, and the request “give me the best solution” does not specify an action. State when the noise started and ask the agency to contact the neighbours or enforce quiet hours.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter has a generally clear progression: you introduce the neighbours and noise, describe its effects, then explain what you have tried and request help. The paragraph breaks also separate the main stages of the message. This gives the reader a coherent overall structure. Some links between ideas are less smooth, however. The opening paragraph combines background, the neighbours’ arrival, and your reaction in a long sequence, while “apart from that” does not clearly signal the relationship between poor sleep and its effects on your work and health. The final request is also abrupt. Use clearer sentence boundaries and connect each consequence directly to the noise to make the progression more fluent.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main problem, including “late night,” “noise,” “sleep,” and “ignored.” However, the range is limited, and several inaccurate or misspelled expressions make parts of the letter less clear, such as “expection,” “disracts,” “concerate,” and “pricy.” Some phrases are also unnatural, including “the noise of game” and “give me the best solution.” These choices can make the reader pause to interpret your meaning. Aim for accurate, natural collocations and check spelling carefully. For example, “the loud sound from their games” and “please take appropriate action” would express your points more clearly and appropriately for a formal complaint.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt to combine ideas using clauses, as in “the noise of game is very loud that bother me,” and you communicate the basic sequence of events. However, sentence structures are limited, and errors in verb forms, articles, agreement, and sentence boundaries occur throughout. For example, “your agency rent me a flat to me” has an incorrect verb form and duplicated object, while “that noise disracts my sleep” needs a clearer grammatical construction. Capitalisation and punctuation are also inconsistent, particularly in “i” and the all-capital final request. These errors sometimes make the reader work to understand the relationships between ideas. Practise accurate simple sentences first, then add controlled clauses such as “Because the noise continues late at night, I struggle to sleep.”
