Dear Sir or Madam,
Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear sir,
My name is Agust and I am a resident of Maya Highland, room number: 52. I am writing this mail to bring your attention on a serious issues which I am facing due to your new tenant Tom who lives in same building, besides next to my room. Since the time when he came here, I found he plays songs at high volume and animation games without any headsets. You may also know about it, he came here last month and I facing this problem from the very same time.
If I talk about about the noise level, I would say I can bearly attend someones or sometimes I would have to go to bathroom to answer that. Also, I often get awake in the midnight due sound of gun shootings and screaming which usually comes when he plays GTA simulator. As a result, I could focus at my work palce when I do something essential nor I could properly response the clients.
In order to resolve this, I want your input in this because I already talked with him in person albeit ignored. I would like you send him a warning since like my other are facing same issue.
I would appreciate your efforts in this matters.
Best,
Agust

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address all three points: you say the problem began when the neighbour moved in last month, explain that the noise wakes you and disrupts your work, and ask the agency to issue a warning. The examples of gunfire and screaming make the impact clear, and mentioning that you have already spoken to the neighbour adds useful context. However, the request for action is less fully developed than the description of the problem: specify what you expect the agency to do if the warning does not work, or ask it to investigate and enforce quiet hours. The opening and closing are appropriate for a formal complaint, though “Dear Sir or Madam” would match the requested greeting more closely.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter has a clear overall arrangement: the first paragraph introduces the complaint and its timing, the second describes its effects, and the final paragraph requests action. This progression helps the reader follow your purpose. You also use linking expressions such as “As a result” and “In order to resolve this.” At times, however, connections are awkward or unclear, particularly “Since the time when he came here” and “I would like you send him a warning since like my other are facing same issue.” The repeated “If I talk about” also makes the transition into the effects less natural. Use direct topic sentences and clearer references to the neighbour and other residents to make cohesion smoother.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant vocabulary to describe the complaint, including “high volume,” “warning,” “gun shootings,” and “screaming,” so the reader can understand the situation. There are also attempts at more specific language, such as “focus at my work place” and “answer that,” but several choices are inaccurate or unnatural and sometimes make the meaning difficult to follow. For example, “bring your attention on” is not the usual collocation, “beary” is misspelled, and “attend someones” does not clearly express what you mean. Aim for precise, conventional phrases in a formal letter, and check spelling and word forms. This would make your vocabulary more reliable while retaining the relevant range you already show.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a time clause (“Since the time when he came here”) and a result clause (“As a result…”). The overall meaning is usually recoverable, but errors in sentence structure and verb forms occur in several places. For instance, “I facing this problem” needs a finite verb, and “I would like you send him” needs an infinitive marker. The sentence beginning “I could focus…” also has an unclear structure, while “I often get awake” is not grammatically formed as intended. Review tense consistency, articles, and clause construction, and punctuate the long sentences more carefully. More accurate control of these patterns would make your complaint easier to read.
