Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position that alternative medicine is a negative development. However, the development of ideas is limited. The arguments regarding the risks of self-medication are present but lack depth and clarity. For instance, the example of 'migration' (likely meaning migraine) is confusing and lacks logical connection to the argument. The conclusion is brief and does not fully synthesize the points made. To reach a higher band, you should provide more detailed explanations and more coherent, relevant examples to support your claims.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as 'To commence with' and 'Apart from this'. Some transitions feel forced or do not logically connect the ideas. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and the flow between sentences is sometimes disjointed. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words more naturally and ensure that each sentence logically follows the previous one to create a smoother progression of ideas.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks precision. There are several instances of word-choice errors, such as 'self prevention' instead of 'self-medication', and 'migration' instead of 'migraine'. The phrase 'demolished someone's life' is also unnatural in this context. While you attempt to use some topic-specific vocabulary, the inaccuracies occasionally impede the clarity of your message. Expanding your range of collocations and ensuring you use words in their correct context will help you achieve a higher score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Issues include incorrect verb forms ('medicines are utilising'), missing articles, and awkward phrasing ('avoiding to meet doctor in'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with spacing after periods. While the meaning is generally understandable, these errors are frequent enough to distract the reader. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and correct sentence construction will significantly improve your writing.
