Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you clearly state your position that the trend is a negative development, the arguments are underdeveloped and repetitive. The example provided about your uncle is relevant but lacks the necessary depth to fully support your position. To improve, you must expand on your reasoning by exploring the potential risks of alternative medicine more thoroughly and ensuring you meet the length requirement to allow for a more comprehensive discussion of the topic.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is divided into paragraphs, but the logical progression of ideas is weak. The transitions between sentences are often abrupt or missing, making the flow of the argument difficult to follow. For example, the transition 'Now turning to the details' is used, but the subsequent sentences lack cohesive links, relying on repetitive phrasing. The use of cohesive devices is very limited and often inaccurate, which hinders the overall coherence of the text. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring each paragraph has a clear, singular focus would greatly enhance the structure.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is basic and repetitive, which limits your ability to express complex ideas. You frequently use the same words, such as 'medicines', 'treatments', and 'health problems', throughout the essay. There are also errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'majority number of people' instead of 'a majority of people' and 'unusual medicines' when you likely mean 'alternative' or 'unproven' treatments. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use a wider range of vocabulary, including synonyms and more precise academic terminology related to the topic of healthcare.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that often impede communication. There are significant issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'he not go for checkup'), tense consistency, and sentence structure. Many sentences are fragmented or run-on, and there is a lack of complex sentence structures. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing capital letters and incorrect use of commas. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring correct verb tenses, and practicing the use of complex structures like relative clauses or conditional sentences to add variety to your writing.
