Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, stopping at only 167 words, which significantly restricts the development of ideas. While the writer attempts to address the prompt by discussing alternative medicines versus visiting regular doctors, the position is muddled and lacks clarity. The ideas presented, such as claiming that 'medicines are temporary solution for your body relaxation' or that heart disease should be treated by an operation rather than medication, are largely under-developed and difficult to follow due to logic gaps. Furthermore, the writer confuses 'health problems' with youth having 'health diseases'. Because of the severe under-length and lack of full task development, the score reflects limited fulfillment of the prompt requirements.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.5
The essay is divided into short paragraphs, but the organization and progression of ideas are heavily disrupted by unclear referencing and weak logical links. For instance, the transition 'Firstly' introduces a convoluted argument about shapes of faces and science that lacks coherence. Cohesive devices are either missing, misused, or repetitive (such as the repeated use of 'quickly and quickly' or 'medicines... medicines'). Paragraphing is attempted, but the internal structure of the paragraphs does not follow a clear logical flow, making it challenging for the reader to follow the train of thought. Overall, the arrangement of information lacks clear overall progression, leading to a low band score in this category.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.0
Vocabulary usage is very basic, repetitive, and frequently unnatural. The student relies heavily on simple words and produces awkward collocations or erroneous phrases such as 'growing amount of youth with health diseases', 'traveling their regular doctor', and 'temporary solution for your body relaxation'. There are also frequent spelling and word-form errors, such as 'disesase' and 'fulfill'. While the writer attempts some less common terms like 'survive our life easily', the inaccurate lexical choices and limited range mean that meaning is strained and communication is frequently impeded. The vocabulary is inadequate for a standard academic writing task.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
The text displays a very limited range of grammatical structures. Most sentences contain noticeable errors in syntax, tense, and agreement, such as 'medicines was not released', 'people don't know by its name', and 'their are more chances of our heart fails'. Attempts at complex structures are consistently faulty, and punctuation is often problematic. These errors occur with high frequency throughout the short text, causing considerable difficulty for the reader and distorting the intended meaning in multiple places. Control over basic grammar rules is weak, placing the response firmly in the lower band range.
