Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing whether using alternative medicines is a positive or negative development, taking a stance that it is generally negative while acknowledging some pros. However, the task achievement is hindered significantly by the word count failure, as the response falls short of the required 250 words at 231 words. Furthermore, ideas are somewhat limited and under-developed. For instance, the student states that people use home remedies and mentions serious health problems, but fails to extend or fully support these ideas with detailed examples. The position is stated in the introduction, but the development of arguments remains superficial, leading to a Band 5.0 score under the descriptors.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is a basic logical organization with a clear attempt at paragraphing, including an introduction, body paragraphs addressing different aspects, and a conclusion. However, cohesion is frequently faulty and mechanical. The student relies on repetitive cohesive devices such as 'To commence with', 'Addition to this', and 'On the other hand'. Referencing is sometimes unclear, notably in sentences like 'this is negative development and, I discuss about it in upcoming paragraph' and 'these are a lot of home made remedies are available'. Progression lacks smoothness, resulting in a score of 5.0.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited and contains numerous errors that stem from incorrect word forms, spelling mistakes, and poor collocations. Examples include 'increasiry ratio of individuals', 'physical problers', 'fix their healthy', 'expensis', and 'proffesional'. There are attempts to use less common vocabulary, but these fail due to inaccuracy. While the vocabulary is minimally adequate to convey the basic topic, the high frequency of word-choice and spelling errors places this firmly at Band 5.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but control is weak. There are frequent grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('Healthy body and mind leads', 'these are a lot of home made remedies are available'), missing articles, and run-on sentences with faulty punctuation (e.g., comma splices). For example, 'Addition to this, few masses use internet for the solution of their health problems but on internet they provides just ideas, they didn't check like a proffesional doctors'. These errors frequently cause strain for the reader, justifying a band score of 5.0.
