Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
The response only minimally addresses the task, primarily because it is severely under length. The task requires a minimum of 250 words, but this submission contains only 143 words. Consequently, the position on whether alternative medicines and treatments represent a negative development is only partially articulated and lacks sufficient extension. While the writer attempts to introduce a perspective regarding family doctors, the ideas are cut short and remain underdeveloped, failing to fully explore the prompt's core theme of alternative versus conventional medical practices.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
There is some basic organisation with attempts at paragraphing, but overall progression is lacking due to the truncated length and repetitive patterns. The writer makes use of simple cohesive devices such as 'Initially' and 'Moreover', yet referencing is sometimes unclear, particularly with pronouns like 'that handle your body'. Paragraph structure is initiated, but the essay breaks off abruptly mid-sentence, preventing a complete logical flow throughout the response.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, utilizing high-frequency terms such as 'medicines', 'treatment', 'doctor', and 'feel better' multiple times. There are noticeable lexical limitations and awkward word choices, such as 'take medicines and treatment from different doctors rather then usual doctor'. These errors and the restricted range of vocabulary constrain the expression of ideas, aligning with the characteristics of this level.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The grammatical range is very limited, relying heavily on simple sentence structures, while attempts at more complex clauses are frequently faulty, such as 'if they give which medicine then what reaction come from that body that handle your body'. There are frequent errors in basic grammar, including missing articles, incorrect verb forms like 'my family doctor know', and prepositions inside grammatical patterns. Punctuation is also weak, and the essay concludes with an unfinished sentence, causing significant difficulty for the reader.
