Student answer (Band 5.0)

At present, in increasing the numbers of different disease patient are trying to use their choice of medicines rather of attending usual consultant. there are many reasons behind this which demonstrate the routine problems that people face mostly.

Firstly, mostly people have their appointment file in which the doctor advise them according to the problem. In this case majority individuals use this kind of medicines, and they do not go for a checkup. This can be dangerous. For instance, in developing countries like in Pakistan more people advise a various kind of medicine, sometimes its work due to this people is not visiting the doctors. If a person has series disease like cancer and heart disease and deceased their visits to a qualified doctor, their condition could worsen.

In contrast, a few individuals have different perspective, and a few persons are too much sensitive, they prefer to visit a specific doctor and start the treatment while few are not getting too much stress for the disease. Such as mostly in the urban city's citizens, they don`t spend too much money on the illness and they say it is the waste of money according to their mind, but a few educated persons also treat their illness mostly at home and does not get it series.

In my opinion, to use their own ideas I think this could be mor dangerous for that particular patient who fight with their disease. So, the advice and also checkup also too much necessary for any patient who has little problem or big problem because health is more important than other activities.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You give a clear overall view that relying on alternative medicines instead of consulting a doctor can be dangerous, and the examples of cancer and heart disease are relevant to this position. However, the response only partially addresses the question: it does not clearly explain what kinds of alternative treatments people use or develop the reasons for choosing them. The paragraph beginning “In contrast” is difficult to interpret and introduces ideas about sensitivity, expense and home treatment without showing how they support your judgement. To strengthen the response, state your position directly in the introduction, then explain and support two relevant reasons, using a specific example to show the likely consequences of avoiding professional care.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has an introduction, body paragraphs and a concluding opinion, so there is some organisation. You also use signposts such as “Firstly,” “For instance” and “In my opinion.” However, the overall progression is not clear: the second body paragraph starts with “In contrast” but does not present a clear opposing view, and its points about urban residents, cost and home treatment are not connected logically. Some ideas are repeated, particularly the need to visit a doctor, while links between sentences are often unclear. Plan each paragraph around one main point, use topic sentences that match the paragraph’s content, and make contrast markers reflect a genuine contrast.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You attempt vocabulary relevant to health and treatment, including “qualified doctor,” “checkup,” “cancer” and “heart disease.” However, the range is limited and several inaccurate or unnatural choices make parts of the response difficult to understand. For example, “different disease patient,” “appointment file,” “series disease” and “deceased their visits” do not express the intended meanings clearly. Spelling and word-form problems such as “mor dangerous” and “series” also reduce precision. Build a reliable set of topic vocabulary and check collocations and forms: for example, refer to “patients with different illnesses,” “medical records,” “serious illnesses” and “stop visiting a doctor.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt both simple and longer sentence forms, including conditional language in “If a person has … their condition could worsen.” However, control is inconsistent, and frequent errors in sentence structure, agreement, articles and verb forms sometimes make the meaning hard to follow. Examples include “the doctor advise them,” “a few educated persons … does not get,” and the opening fragment-like construction “At present, in increasing the numbers…”. Capitalisation and punctuation are also unreliable, as seen in the lowercase “there” after the first full stop and the inconsistent use of apostrophes. Practise building accurate subject–verb–object sentences first, then add subordinate clauses and check agreement and sentence boundaries.
