Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is clear from the introduction: you consider the trend negative, and you give two relevant reasons—possible harm from unsupervised medicines and slower progress when several treatments are used. The conclusion also restates this view. However, the response only partially develops these points. For example, the claim that the body’s “memory” may be confused by different treatments is unclear and needs a more convincing explanation. The discussion also treats alternative care broadly, without distinguishing potentially useful treatments from replacing a doctor’s advice. To strengthen the response, explain each reason with a specific example or consequence and make the link to the question more precise throughout.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. The paragraphs generally follow the order of the two reasons stated at the beginning, so the reader can identify the main line of argument. However, progression within the paragraphs is sometimes mechanical, with repeated transitions such as “Therefore” and “In addition.” Some linking is also faulty: “However” and “Nevertheless” are used close together without a clear contrast, and the sentence beginning “In addition, we all the human body…” is difficult to follow. Improve cohesion by making each paragraph develop one point in a clear sequence—claim, explanation, example—and use referencing and transitions only where they express a genuine relationship.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “side effects,” “consulting,” “treatments,” and “fatal,” and the reader can generally understand your position. However, the range is limited and several inaccurate word choices or collocations make the argument less clear. Examples include “health disease,” “daily doctors,” “a numerous types,” and “slow results”; more natural expressions would be “health problems,” “regular doctors,” “numerous treatments,” and “delay recovery.” Spelling errors such as “thier,” “heath,” and “diesease” are also noticeable. Build a more precise topic vocabulary and check spelling and common word partnerships, especially when describing medical care and outcomes.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including clauses introduced by “as,” “without,” and “that,” but complex structures are often faulty and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to interpret. For instance, “trying different types of medicines can cause side effects in the body can it cause…” joins clauses incorrectly, while “we all the human body runs…” has an unclear subject and verb structure. There are also problems with articles, agreement, and sentence boundaries, as in “a numerous types” and “it is very essential to depend on the one method at a time a get…”. Practise building accurate sentences with one main clause and a clearly connected supporting clause, then proofread for agreement and punctuation.
