Student answer (Band 5.0)

It is argued by many people a growing number of people with health issues are trying alternative medicines and treatments instead of visiting their usual doctor. I believe that this decision will create detrimental problems for people, if they do not visit with doctor.

A wide range of reasons are there why many people prefer to alternative medicine instead of going their usual doctor. One possible reason is that they afraid of medical treatments, they will believe medical facilities such as, operations, surgery and so on. Then they do not intrested with visiting their usual doctor. Furthermore, individuals are thinking that doctors always suggested to operations and do not provided any medicines. Another reason could be that people think that when the feel sick or suffer from health problems, then they will believe that it is simple and not create to critical problems. For example, Bangladeshi people suffer to plenty of health problems because they unaware about their health safety.

In addition to the reason mentioned above, people are suffering from different health problems, they did not preffered to doctor. Firstly, if people takes medicine in pharmacy, before they would to meet with doctor because doctor will suggest what types of medicine they actually needs. One of the main reason is that people are taking medicines without prescribed then they suffer from various health problems. Secondly, individuals will prefer to local pharmacy, if they think that visiting with doctor is waste of money. For instance, currently people are struggling to health diseases due to the fact that they take medicines without doctor appointments.

All in all, considering the factors mentioned above, it seems to me that if people should not the sincere their health problems, they may suffer from different kinds of health problems. I firmly believe that untill the above-mentioned solutions are properly implemented.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You take a clear overall position that relying on alternatives or avoiding a doctor is harmful, and you give relevant reasons, including fear of surgery, assumptions about doctors, and taking medicine without a prescription. However, the response only partly develops the task: it does not clearly distinguish alternative treatments from using a pharmacy or self-medicating, and several points repeat the idea that people avoid doctors without explaining the consequences in detail. The Bangladesh example is broad and does not show how alternative treatment causes harm. The conclusion also becomes unclear in “if people should not the sincere their health problems” and ends with an unfinished reference to solutions. Develop one or two reasons with a specific, explained example and state your position consistently.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, and signposting such as “Furthermore,” “Firstly” and “Secondly” helps the reader recognise the intended structure. However, the overall progression is not always clear: the second body paragraph largely repeats the first paragraph’s point about avoiding doctors and taking medicine without advice. Some links are inaccurate or do not show a clear relationship, as in “In addition to the reason mentioned above,” which introduces another set of similar claims. References such as “they” and “this decision” can also be difficult to follow. To improve, organise each paragraph around a distinct reason, connect each example directly to that reason, and use fewer, more precise linking phrases.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “alternative medicine,” “medical facilities,” “prescribed” and “health problems,” so the reader can identify the subject. However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation and spelling errors make parts of the response difficult to understand. Examples include “they afraid of medical treatments,” “suggested to operations,” “suffer to plenty of health problems” and “health safety.” There are also repeated general phrases such as “health problems” and “different kinds of health problems,” which reduce precision. Build a more accurate set of expressions for treatment and medical advice, and check spelling and word forms. For example, distinguish “self-medication” from “alternative treatment” and describe specific risks rather than repeating broad references to illness.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including clauses beginning with “because,” “if” and “that,” but control is inconsistent. Frequent errors in sentence structure, verb forms, agreement, articles and prepositions sometimes make the meaning hard to follow. For example, “they afraid of medical treatments” needs a verb, while “individuals are thinking that doctors always suggested” mixes tense and form. The sentence beginning “One of the main reason is that people are taking medicines without prescribed” also has agreement and clause-pattern problems. The final sentence, “I firmly believe that untill the above-mentioned solutions are properly implemented,” is incomplete. Practise building accurate complete sentences first, then add subordinate clauses and check that each sentence has a clear subject and finite verb.
