Student answer (Band 5.5)

It is quite common that the habits and views of citizens may change when they get old. I am agree on this notion due to some factors which this essay will explore in further paragraphs.

The most prominent reason is that grey haired people have a lot of experience. When they make any opinion regarding something then old people always compare their previous real world experience. For example, if they give a career advice to a child they always investigate that a career provide special meaning to anyone' life who adopt the same field of education. Therefore , their viewpoints change when they get old because of self-esteem and real life experiences.

Furthermore , though, there are some influence of past experience on their opinion but in the age their habits also differ. Old individuals behave like children. Sometime they do various activities like child due to body changes. For example, in old care homes, it is common that old people always demand for candies and chocolate. If their demand is not fulfilled they will start shouting like babies. As a result, elderly people are like child and their habits and behave change frequently.

In conclusion, old people behave like child when they get old because of this their habits may change immediately. Youngster should take care of old people and spend some quality time with them so they can share their feelings .

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The essay addresses the prompt by agreeing that habits and opinions change with age. However, the response is under the 250-word minimum, which limits the depth of development. While the first body paragraph touches on experience, the second paragraph relies on a generalization about elderly people behaving like children, which is not a universally accepted or well-supported argument. The position is clear, but the ideas are not fully extended or supported with nuanced reasoning. To improve, you should expand your arguments with more logical examples and ensure the essay meets the required length to allow for a more comprehensive exploration of the topic.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear introduction and conclusion. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Furthermore', 'For example', and 'In conclusion'. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the logical progression within the second paragraph is weak due to the questionable premise that elderly people behave like children. The referencing is occasionally unclear, and the transition between the idea of 'experience' and 'child-like behavior' lacks a smooth logical bridge. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring each paragraph has a single, well-developed focus would enhance the overall coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You use some basic terms like 'grey haired people' and 'old people' repeatedly. There are also some awkward collocations, such as 'adopt the same field of education' and 'behave change frequently'. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more sophisticated vocabulary and precise collocations. For instance, instead of 'old people', consider terms like 'the elderly', 'senior citizens', or 'the older generation'. Expanding your range to include more academic or topic-specific vocabulary will significantly improve your score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

There is a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but the essay contains several grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'I am agree on this notion' (should be 'I agree with this notion'), 'a career provide special meaning' (subject-verb agreement error), and 'there are some influence' (should be 'there is some influence'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with spacing around commas. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors suggests a need for more careful proofreading and a better grasp of basic subject-verb agreement and article usage.
