Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by agreeing that habits and opinions change with age. You provide reasons such as lifestyle changes and the pursuit of self-improvement. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the mention of 'saying No' or 'learning new skills' is relevant but lacks depth or specific personal examples to fully illustrate the point. The conclusion is a bit abrupt and does not fully synthesize the arguments presented. To reach a higher band, ensure that each body paragraph contains a clear topic sentence followed by a concrete, detailed example that explains the 'why' and 'how' behind your claims.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear introduction and conclusion. You use some cohesive devices like 'Firstly', 'Secondly', and 'In addition to', which help the flow. However, some transitions feel mechanical, and the logical progression within paragraphs is occasionally hindered by awkward phrasing (e.g., 'As usual if these are good changes...'). The referencing is generally clear, but the connection between sentences could be smoother to improve the overall readability. Focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that each sentence builds logically upon the previous one.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to convey your meaning. You use some topic-specific terms like 'positive mindset' and 'rituals and practices'. However, there is a reliance on repetitive and informal language, such as 'folks' and 'getting normal'. There are also some collocation errors, such as 'more good at utilizing' instead of 'better at utilizing'. To improve, try to incorporate more precise academic vocabulary and avoid informal, conversational fillers. Expanding your range of synonyms will help you express your ideas with more sophistication and precision.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Examples include 'people who developed the habit... are more good at' (should be 'are better at'), 'folks did not had' (should be 'did not have'), and 'when they are enough mature' (should be 'mature enough'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct placement of adjectives. Reviewing basic sentence construction will help you achieve more error-free sentences.
