Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The essay addresses the prompt by agreeing that habits and opinions change with age. The position is clear throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. While you provide examples like saying 'No' or learning new skills, the explanation of *why* these changes occur is repetitive and lacks depth. To reach a higher band, you should expand on the psychological or social factors that drive these changes rather than simply stating that people learn things. The conclusion is also quite brief and does not fully synthesize the arguments presented in the body paragraphs.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Secondly', and 'In addition', which help the reader follow your argument. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical or forced. For instance, the transition between the second and third paragraphs could be smoother. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the final sentence where 'these' refers back to 'habits and opinions' in a slightly ambiguous way. Overall, the structure is sufficient for a coherent response.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using words like 'elucidate', 'transforming', and 'utilization'. However, there are some issues with collocation and word choice. For example, 'more good at utilizing' is grammatically awkward; 'better at utilizing' would be more natural. You also use 'folks' repeatedly, which is too informal for an IELTS essay. To improve, focus on using more precise academic vocabulary and avoiding informal or colloquial expressions that do not fit the formal tone required for this writing task.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Examples include 'people who developed the habit... are more good at' (should be 'are better at') and 'folks did not had the habit' (should be 'did not have the habit'). Subject-verb agreement is also inconsistent, such as 'individuals who keeps changing'. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focus on proofreading for basic tense and agreement errors.
