Student answer (Band 6.5)
People often change their lifestyles and their views as they grow older. I agree with this statement because people's responsibilities and life experiences can strongly influence their habits and opinions.
Firstly, peoples's habits often change because their responsibilities increase as they get older. When people are young, they usually have a fewer responsibilities, so they may spend more time socialising or enjoying entertainment. However, after starting a full time job or having a family, they may have less free time and develop a more organised lifestyle. For instance, a university student may stay up late and spend a lot of time with friends, whereas a working adult may go to bed earlier because they have a work next morning. Therefore, changes in responsibilities can naturally lead to changes in daily habits.
Secondaly, peoples's opinions can changes as they gain more knowledge and life experience. When people are young, they may have limited experience and therefore hold strong opinions about certain issues. However, their veiw bacome different after they experience work, relationships and other responsibilities. For example, a young person may believe that earning a high salary is the most important goal, but after gaining work experience, they may realise that job satisfaction, health and family life are also important. If people experience different situations throughout their lives, they may develop a more balanced view of the world.
In conclusion, I agree that people commonly change their habits and opinions as they grow older. This is mainly because their responsibilities increase and their life experiences influence the way they think and behave.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses the prompt clearly and maintains a consistent position throughout. The introduction states a clear agreement, and the two body paragraphs provide relevant, logical reasons—changing responsibilities and evolving life experiences—to support this stance. Each point is extended with concrete examples, such as the comparison between a university student and a working adult. The ideas are well-developed and directly answer the question. To reach a higher band, you could aim to provide more nuanced analysis or a deeper exploration of how these changes reflect broader societal shifts, but the current response is fully relevant and well-supported.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, two distinct body paragraphs, and a conclusion. The progression of ideas is easy to follow. You use cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'However', 'For instance', and 'In conclusion' effectively to link sentences and paragraphs. While the paragraphing is appropriate, the flow could be slightly more sophisticated by using a wider variety of cohesive markers beyond standard transition words. Overall, the structure is clear and the logical flow is maintained throughout the text, making it easy for the reader to follow your argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using words like 'responsibilities', 'socialising', 'balanced', and 'influence' correctly. However, there are some minor spelling errors, such as 'peoples's' (should be 'people's'), 'veiw' (view), and 'bacome' (become). These errors do not impede communication but prevent a higher score. To improve, try to incorporate more precise or academic collocations. For example, instead of 'have a fewer responsibilities', use 'possess fewer obligations'. The vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly, but it lacks the flexibility and precision required for the higher bands.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as 'When people are young, they usually have fewer responsibilities, so they may spend more time socialising'. While the meaning is always clear, there are several grammatical slips, such as 'have a fewer responsibilities' (incorrect article usage) and 'opinions can changes' (incorrect verb form). Additionally, there is a minor error in 'they have a work next morning' (unnecessary article). Despite these errors, your control of grammar is generally good, and the mistakes do not impede communication. Increasing the variety of complex structures and proofreading for minor subject-verb agreement errors would help improve your score.
