Student answer (Band 5.5)

With the passage of time it is usual that most of the person alter their mode

Of thinking and living .I firmly agree with this point .In my essay i will discuss how people change with time and time will lead a positive impact on their lives .

In past people used to live in one house .They had one source of communication and many individuals in a family had no idea about the society .At that time there were just few persons who were leading their family .Nowadays people are utilising all new technologies in their lives .Every person have their own smart phones .They are aware of the world and its progression .They also trying to participate and share their thoughts by using social media .People prefer to live independently rather than all persons depending on one individual.

Few decades ago people used wood for fire and cooked food on it while now they have stoves .It has two benefits:it is also saving time and nature .

Actually these are positive changes .If anyone got his benefits while changing themselves including habits or way or thinking .They prefer to apply them on their daily life .People in old days used natural fresh food meanwhile these days everyone is consuming canned food or ready to cook .Although it is saving time but it is not healthy and people have more diseases rather than people of past era.But necessity is the key of invention. These days everyone have filter water in their homes rather than own pump .It is both time saving and less expensive. With the passage of time it is a nature of man they adopt themselves for their benefits.I strong believe it is familiar that people are changing themselves with the passage of time .

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by agreeing that people change habits and opinions over time. However, the development is somewhat uneven. While you provide examples of technological and lifestyle changes, the link between these changes and the 'opinions' aspect of the prompt is weak. The essay focuses heavily on technological progress rather than the psychological or philosophical shifts that occur as people age. To improve, ensure that each paragraph directly supports your central argument with clear, logical reasoning. The conclusion is present but could be more effectively linked to the main body points to provide a stronger summary of your position.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the progression of ideas. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or repetitive. For example, the phrase 'with the passage of time' is used multiple times, which limits the flow. Some transitions between sentences are abrupt, such as the jump from discussing cooking methods to the health implications of canned food. Using a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'consequently', 'furthermore', 'in contrast') would help create a more natural and sophisticated logical flow between your arguments.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and range required for a higher band. You rely on basic phrasing such as 'good' or 'positive changes' and 'many individuals'. There are also some issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'it is a nature of man' (should be 'it is human nature') and 'filter water' (should be 'filtered water'). To improve, try to incorporate more topic-specific vocabulary related to social change, personal development, and technological advancement to demonstrate a more flexible range of language.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'Every person have their own smart phones' should be 'has'), article usage, and punctuation errors. For instance, there are missing spaces after periods and inconsistent capitalization. While these errors rarely impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and ensuring correct sentence boundaries would significantly improve the clarity and accuracy of your writing.
