Student answer (Band 6.0)
Elderly people always have a different opinion on various things based on their past experience. With the growing age people tend to change their habits and viewpoints. I completely agree with the motion.
Firstly, fitness and health plays an important role during an old age. Individuals may be fit but does not have the ability to generate enough strength required to play a sport. For example, a person might have a hobby of playing sports as a youngsters, but physically it is difficult to keep up with the same hobby at an older age. Secondly, experience gained over the years also make people mentally stubborn and they change their thinking patterns. To cite an example, in a country like India grandparents always force kids to respect their elders, however with the newer generation they require a logical reasoning for the same. To add more, old age is considered as a second childhood and people behaves like a child.
Furthermore, an old-fashioned mindset plays a vital role and force people to change their habits. For instance, aged individuals loves completing their daily routine task by themselves. The body is not flexible to finish those tasks and it could lead to frustration. There are several ideas which supports the motion but, I would like to highlight a viewpoint against the motion. Few humans believe parents do not change their habits at an older age, it is just that they require help from the family to complete their daily chores. A strong bond between parents and kids during their older days boost their mental well-being.
To conclude, old human beings tends to change their opinion and habits due to various reason like health, experience and old-fashioned mindset. I believe aged individuals need more love and help for a good health. Moral support will boost their confidence, even though their mindset and habits keep on changing at a certain age.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. You have provided relevant reasons, such as physical limitations and changing life experiences, to support your argument. However, some ideas are slightly under-developed. For instance, the point about 'old-fashioned mindset' is introduced but not fully explained in relation to how it forces a change in habits. Additionally, the paragraph discussing the counter-argument is a bit disconnected from the main thesis. To reach a higher band, ensure that every point directly supports your central argument and provides a more detailed explanation or a more concrete example to illustrate your reasoning.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Secondly', 'Furthermore', and 'To conclude' to structure your argument. However, some transitions are a bit mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the sentence 'There are several ideas which supports the motion but, I would like to highlight a viewpoint against the motion.' The connection between the counter-argument and your overall position could be smoother to improve the flow of the essay.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'viewpoints', 'mentally stubborn', and 'well-being'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'generate enough strength' (instead of 'maintain the physical stamina') and 'old human beings' (which sounds unnatural; 'the elderly' or 'older adults' is preferred). The vocabulary is sufficient to communicate your ideas clearly, but it lacks the precision and flexibility required for a higher band score. Expanding your range of collocations and idiomatic expressions would be beneficial.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While your meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'fitness and health plays', 'people behaves', 'individuals loves', 'old human beings tends'). There are also minor punctuation and article errors throughout the text. While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on proofreading for subject-verb agreement and ensuring consistent verb forms will significantly improve your accuracy.
