Student answer (Band 6.0)

There is an ongoing debate about whether people change their lifestyles and perspectives about the life as their growing life. I strongly agree with this view as individuals gain knowledge and experience after they old. This essay will describe why people changed during becoming older.

one of the primary reasons is why people change their habits and opinions when they get old because of the life experiences. Initially in life age, people give time and priority to work and money. However, getting older they gain experience that family and mind-relaxed work is more crucial. For example, as a young people they work hard and live far away from their family but in their 60s age they wants to live with their family in a good environment. As a result, after getting elder people change their opinions and lifestyle which provides them peace and calmness.

Furthermore, human changed their opinion and habits because they become more mature after certain age. In other words, older people become health conscious as they know how much good health is important for surviving good life. For instance, youth may eat fast food regularly without any concerns, but older people do not prefer to eat junk food as know it contains plenty of problems in body. Besides this, younger people not have that much responsibilities as older does. younger mostly depend on their parents but getting older they married they have responsibilities about their family and children. Therefore, people change their lifestyle due to responsibilities and maturity.

In conclusion, I completely agree with that people changed in their growing life. They change not only because have experience but also have responsibilities and way to understand the life.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The essay addresses the prompt by clearly stating a position in the introduction and supporting it with relevant arguments regarding life experience, health consciousness, and increased responsibilities. The ideas are relevant and generally well-developed. However, the response would benefit from more nuanced examples; for instance, the discussion on 'young people' versus 'older people' is somewhat generalized. To reach a higher band, ensure that the connection between the examples and the core argument is more explicitly stated. Overall, the response covers all parts of the task effectively.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each focusing on a specific aspect of the argument. Cohesive devices such as 'Furthermore', 'For instance', and 'In conclusion' are used to guide the reader. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical, and there are instances where referencing is unclear, such as 'as they know how much good health is important for surviving good life'. While the progression of ideas is generally clear, the flow between sentences could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words and better referencing to avoid repetitive phrasing.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the student to express their ideas clearly. There are some attempts to use less common vocabulary, such as 'perspectives' and 'responsibilities', but there are also frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'surviving good life' instead of 'living a healthy life' and 'getting elder' instead of 'getting older'. Some phrasing is slightly unnatural, which occasionally hinders the precision of the argument. Expanding the range of vocabulary and focusing on correct collocations would significantly improve the score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with verb tense consistency ('people changed during becoming older'), subject-verb agreement ('younger mostly depend... they married they have responsibilities'), and article usage. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding the main points, they are noticeable and occur throughout the text. To improve, the student should focus on mastering basic sentence construction and ensuring consistent verb forms when discussing general truths or habits.
