Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is often believe that as individuals grow older their daily routine and personal views undergo significant changes. I completely agree with this view because aging brings new responsibilities and experiences which can influence people's lifestyle and perspectives.

One major reason why people's habits change with the age is that their priorities and responsibilities evolve. Young adults often have fewer obligations and spent considerable time socialising, eating unhealthy food or following irregular routine. However as they get older, they may start working full time ,get married or have children. Consequently, they are more likely to adopt healthy and more organise lifestyle .For example, young person who regularly eats fast food, may start preparing nutritious means after becoming more concern about their health and family responsibilities.

Another reason of change in people's opinion is that they gain greater life experience. In their youth, individuals may have limited knowledge of world and therefore hold strong or idealistic views about certain issues. As they encounter different situation meet people from diverse backgrounds and experience both success and failure they may reconsidered their previous beliefs. For instance, a person who once believed that working long hours was the key to career success might later realise that maintaining a healthy work-like balance is equally important after experiencing the demands of enjoyment .

In conclusion, I strongly agree that people commonly changed their habits and opinions as they age. This is mainly because their responsibilities and experience develop overtime, leading them to adopt different lifestyles and more mature perspectives.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, clearly stating a position in the introduction and maintaining it throughout. The ideas are relevant and supported by examples, such as the transition from unhealthy habits to family responsibilities and the shift in career perspectives. The development is logical, though some points could be expanded further to reach a higher band. For instance, the explanation of why opinions change could be more nuanced. However, the response successfully answers the 'why' and 'how' of the prompt, providing a clear and consistent argument that meets the requirements of the task.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Each paragraph has a central topic, and ideas progress logically. Cohesive devices such as 'consequently', 'for instance', and 'in conclusion' are used effectively to link ideas. However, there are some minor issues with punctuation and spacing, such as missing spaces after commas and periods (e.g., 'full time ,get married'). While the paragraphing is appropriate, the flow is occasionally interrupted by these mechanical errors, which prevents it from reaching the highest band for cohesion.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally appropriate for the task, with some good collocations like 'evolve', 'diverse backgrounds', and 'idealistic views'. However, there are several instances of word-choice errors and morphological mistakes, such as 'often believe' instead of 'often believed', 'more organise' instead of 'more organized', and 'work-like balance' instead of 'work-life balance'. These errors do not impede communication, but they demonstrate a lack of precision. To improve, focus on using the correct word forms and ensuring that collocations are accurate.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the writer attempts complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with verb tenses and word forms (e.g., 'young person who regularly eats fast food, may start...', 'they may reconsidered their previous beliefs'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with several missing spaces after punctuation marks. These errors are noticeable and occur throughout the text, although they do not prevent the reader from understanding the message. Increasing the accuracy of verb forms and refining punctuation will help elevate the score.
