Student answer (Band 6.0)

In this millennium, as individuals get older they change their habits and opinions as they get older . I completely agree with this statement, this essay will elaborate reasons in upcoming paragraphs.

To begin with, life experiences play a important role in this trend. Major life events like retirement, having grandchildren, or having some health issues changes their opinion and their habits . As, children learn from their elders , in order to develop good habits in them they change their habits so that they can set up a good example for coming generation . Furthermore, as one get older their emotional state also changes they get better at handling stress and letting go anger as the life has shown them so hard times that they become stronger at handling emotions.

The second reason can be the social environment. With the time the social circle like friends, relative get smaller and tighter they drop the toxic relationship and keep supportive. This develop a positive change in them as toxic relationship make them realize that nothing stay constant rather than making others happy they start focusing on themselves ,which develop a positive change in them . Moreover, as individual move to new society or culture they adopt that culture which changes their opinion.

In conclusion, life experiences and social environment plays a important role in changing the habits and opinions of a individual as tey get older. I completely agree with this statement.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The essay addresses the prompt by agreeing that habits and opinions change with age. However, the response is under the 250-word minimum, which limits the depth of development. While you provide reasons such as life experiences and social environment, the arguments are somewhat underdeveloped. For instance, the point about 'children learning from elders' is a bit tangential to the core argument of personal change. To improve, you should expand on your examples with more specific detail or personal anecdotes to ensure the response is fully developed and meets the length requirement. The position is clear throughout, but the lack of sufficient length prevents a higher score.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices like 'To begin with,' 'Furthermore,' and 'In conclusion' to link your points. However, the flow is occasionally hindered by repetitive phrasing and some mechanical transitions. For example, the phrase 'which develop a positive change in them' is used twice in the same paragraph, which makes the writing feel slightly repetitive. To improve, try to vary your linking words and ensure that each sentence flows naturally into the next without relying on the same structures.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'millennium,' 'toxic relationship,' and 'emotional state.' However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'life has shown them so hard times' (should be 'shown them such hard times') and 'nothing stay constant' (should be 'nothing stays constant'). The vocabulary is generally sufficient to convey your meaning, but it lacks the precision and flexibility required for a higher band. Focusing on learning common collocations and ensuring subject-verb agreement will help improve your lexical score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that, while they do not impede communication, are noticeable. Examples include 'life experiences... plays a important role' (subject-verb agreement error), 'as one get older' (should be 'gets'), and 'as tey get older' (spelling error). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary spaces before commas and periods. To reach a higher band, you need to focus on subject-verb agreement, article usage (e.g., 'a important' should be 'an important'), and proofreading for minor spelling slips.
