Student answer (Band 6.5)
It is increasingly common that habits and opinions are changing more often as they people are getting old. I strongly agree that there is a change in the view or opinion of people as they get older. This essay will discuss why viewpoints change with the growing age.
There is an array of reasons why people change their thinking after attaining a certain age, but the most prominent one is personal experiences. As people attain the certain age, they meet other people with different perspectives that alters their viewpoint. Most people stay busy with their professional and do not take any break. To take an example, someone who once believed that career success is the utmost important thing in their life, but after a while, they realize that quality time with family and friends is irreplaceable.
In addition to this, ageing often change the personal habits of people. When they were younger, they used to stay late night, eating late night snacks while watching movies, which often changes once they start doing job and having family responsibilities. As they start doing full time jobs, they have to follow routine and schedule to become successful in life. For example, once the adults become parents, they become more responsible who used to have irregular routines. Consequently, growing age not only teach them sense of responsibility, but also provide them a disciplined life.
To conclude, I completely agree that with growing age changes their thinking power as well as their habits. After a certain age, people meet other people from diverse backgrounds and getting more responsibility, changes their way of thinking.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The essay addresses the prompt clearly and maintains a consistent position throughout. The ideas regarding personal experience and the impact of professional/family responsibilities are relevant and well-supported with examples. However, the development is somewhat limited; the points could be extended further to reach a higher band. For instance, the discussion on 'habits' is a bit repetitive, and the conclusion simply restates the introduction without adding a final insightful thought. To improve, ensure that each body paragraph explores the implications of the ideas more deeply rather than just stating them.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas. Cohesive devices such as 'In addition to this', 'To take an example', and 'Consequently' are used to link ideas, although some transitions feel slightly mechanical. The progression of ideas is generally smooth, though the referencing in the final paragraph ('getting more responsibility, changes their way of thinking') is slightly awkward and could be more fluently integrated into the sentence structure.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to convey their meaning clearly. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'irreplaceable' and 'diverse backgrounds'. However, there are instances of imprecise word choice and collocation errors, such as 'attaining the certain age' (should be 'a certain age') and 'growing age' (which is not a standard collocation; 'as people age' or 'with advancing age' would be better). The range is sufficient but lacks the sophistication required for a higher band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors that affect the flow. Examples include 'as they people are getting old' (redundant subject), 'ageing often change' (subject-verb agreement error), and 'growing age not only teach them' (subject-verb agreement). Additionally, there are minor punctuation and article usage issues throughout. While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score in this criterion.
