Student answer (Band 6.0)
A significant number of people tend to change both their habits and opinions as they inclined towards getting aged. I strongly believe and agree with the current statement. The reasons of my agreement are elaborated in the following paragraphs.
When a person is young, he or she doesn't have to rely on any support systems of any kind. As the person is capable of taking own decisions during adulthood. But, with the time people get older and hence, physical and mental degradation takes over. This eventually force older people to alter their habits as well as opinions with time. Take for example, the families in India, where decision-maker is always the eldest male or female in household. They are the one who dictates their opinions to others and rest of the family members are likely to agree with them. But, when they start getting older and the becomes more dependent on other family members due to their health or less mobility, they are not left with any option but rather accepting the view points of other. Moreover, they are at the stage where they cannot dictate their own opinions and hence, agree with whatever other says. Also, drastic change in opinion of older people can be seen many a times. For example, they might not be agreeing with a girl leaving their own state and moving to other state for better career opportunities, during their adulthood. But, same situation gets a positive response from a elderly person in a home and they accept the fact that a girl child also deserve a better opportunity.
In addition to this, habits of people also get changed with time. When a person is young, he or she tends to be very active and tries to complete everything under the roof all alone. In fact, there are many people who doesn't like other work at home, whether its cleaning, or cooking. But, when person start getting aged and mobility becomes limited, they give up all activities they used to do all alone. Rather, they accept the situation and let others to perform tasks on their behalf. In fact, many a times habits of eating sweets or spicy need to be sacrificed by elderly as they could create serious health issues to them, like, Type 2 Diabetes. Therefore, with time as a person grows older, change in habits are also visible.
At the end, I would like to say that age certainly takes toll over our body, this actually forces us to make changes in our day to day activities, in addition to alterations in opinions and habits.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses the prompt clearly and maintains a consistent position throughout. You have provided relevant reasons and examples, such as the cultural context of Indian households and the necessity of dietary changes due to health issues. The ideas are generally well-developed, although some arguments, particularly regarding the shift in opinions, could be more nuanced. You have successfully covered both habits and opinions as requested. To reach a higher band, ensure that your examples are fully integrated into the argument rather than just listed, and avoid over-generalising about the experiences of all elderly people.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organised with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. You use a range of cohesive devices such as 'In addition to this', 'Therefore', and 'For example' to link ideas. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and there are occasional issues with referencing (e.g., 'the becomes more dependent'). Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the discussion of opinions from the discussion of habits. The progression of ideas is generally smooth, though some sentences within paragraphs could be more tightly connected to improve the overall flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, including terms like 'degradation', 'mobility', and 'dictates'. There are some instances of slightly unnatural word choices or phrasing, such as 'inclined towards getting aged' and 'takes toll over our body'. While these do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more precise collocation. You attempt to use less common vocabulary, but some errors in word choice persist. Focusing on collocations and more natural idiomatic expressions would help elevate your lexical score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('many people who doesn't like', 'the becomes more dependent') and article usage errors ('a elderly person'). While these errors are noticeable, they rarely impede the reader's understanding of your main points. To improve, pay closer attention to basic grammatical rules like pluralisation and verb conjugation. Increasing the variety of complex structures while ensuring they remain error-free would also help you move into a higher band.
