Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt by agreeing that habits and opinions change with age. However, the essay is under the 250-word minimum, which limits the depth of the arguments. While the ideas regarding health and cultural exposure are relevant, they are somewhat under-developed. The conclusion is incomplete, ending abruptly mid-sentence, which prevents a clear summary of the position. To improve, you should ensure all parts of the prompt are fully explored and provide a complete, well-structured conclusion. The under-length nature of the response significantly impacts the overall task achievement score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay uses basic paragraphing, but the logical flow is hindered by the incomplete conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To begin with' and 'Moving further,' but they are sometimes used mechanically. Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the second paragraph where the connection between 'responsibilities' and 'financial independent' is disjointed. The progression of ideas is present but lacks the sophistication required for higher bands. Improving the transition between sentences and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear, fully developed topic sentence would enhance the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. There are several instances of awkward phrasing or incorrect word choices, such as 'get alter' instead of 'change' or 'opinion oriented' instead of 'open-minded.' You also use 'searched' when 'researched' or 'found' would be more appropriate. While you attempt to use some topic-specific vocabulary, the range is limited, and the errors occasionally make the meaning slightly opaque. Focusing on learning collocations and using more precise academic vocabulary would help elevate your score in this criterion.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Examples include 'different of kinds of practices,' 'illness get serious,' and 'make them vulnerable.' Subject-verb agreement is a recurring issue, as seen in 'responsibilities makes' and 'perception also get change.' Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the incomplete final sentence. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of errors is high enough to cause some difficulty for the reader. You should focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and pluralization errors.
