Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is often argued that people tend to change their habits and opinions as they grow older. I agree with this phenomenon because people gain knowledge and experience over time. I will articulate this in the upcoming paragraphs.
To begin with, the fundamental reason why people change their perceptions and habits is that enough information and adequate experience lead them to adjust their pathways accordingly. Additionally, the younger generation has limited information about their careers, which can lead them to make wrong decisions, but they eventually correct them by consulting others and choosing the right path. For example, a young person may enjoy fast food, but later adopt a healthier diet.
Furthermore, another prominent reason is responsibilities. To elaborate, young people may have fewer responsibilities, but later on they realize their career, family, children, finances, and duties. Therefore, they develop new routines and habits. Moreover, the lifestyles of young people usually become different as they age. For example, young people may spend a great deal of time socializing, eating fast food and staying up late. For instance, someone dislikes saving money for the future when young but becomes more financially responsible with age.
In conclusion, it is undeniable that human beings' desires change as they become mature. I strongly concur with this because it is a positive development, such as getting enough information, experience and greater responsibilities.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. However, the essay fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly limits the depth of the arguments. While the ideas regarding experience and responsibility are relevant, they are somewhat underdeveloped due to the brevity of the response. To achieve a higher band, you need to expand on your examples and provide more detailed explanations for your points. For instance, the example about fast food is a good start, but it could be elaborated upon to explain the psychological or social drivers behind such changes in habit.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. You use cohesive devices such as 'To begin with,' 'Furthermore,' and 'Moreover' to link your ideas. However, the progression of ideas is sometimes mechanical, and the transitions between sentences could be smoother. The paragraphing is appropriate, but the overall structure feels a bit repetitive in its delivery. To improve, try to vary your linking phrases and ensure that each paragraph flows naturally into the next, rather than relying on a standard list-like structure.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to express your ideas clearly. You use some relevant terms like 'perceptions,' 'responsibilities,' and 'financially responsible.' However, the range is somewhat limited, and there is a reliance on simpler vocabulary. To reach a higher band, you should aim to incorporate more precise, less common lexical items and collocations. For example, instead of repeating 'young people' or 'younger generation,' you could use terms like 'adolescents,' 'youth,' or 'the younger demographic' to demonstrate a wider range of vocabulary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. Most sentences are clear and grammatically correct, which ensures that communication is not impeded. There are some minor issues with phrasing, such as 'someone dislikes saving money... but becomes more financially responsible,' which could be refined for better flow. While you have attempted complex structures, increasing the variety of your sentence patterns—such as using more conditional or passive constructions—would help demonstrate greater grammatical flexibility. Overall, your control of basic grammar is solid.
