Student answer (Band 6.0)
Ageing is a natural progression for everyone and in my opinion it is fairly prevalent for people to change their habits and opinions as they grow up specially the worse ones.
As the individuals age advances they tend to get more mature and sober . They are least bothered by other people opinions and are deeply rooted to their beliefs and ideas because the state of confusion and failure to take decision has been left far behind with their younger self in olden days.
In teenage or early youth a person can be easily convinced of other people opinions and decisions and highly doubt their own capabilities. They are inclined to have strong peer pressure and societal influences. Even the advertisements on billboard or television can change their direction of thinking .they even want to adopt movie or sports stars unhealthy lifestyle.
Nowadays social media also plays a role in directing the youth preferences.
Nevertheless with age and experiences a person becomes more calm and composed and he can even relate to his parents advices. He can easily overcome his bad habits and even societal influence does not bother him. He also becomes less cautious of other people reflection about him. He has already seen a lot in life and he is assured of which habit to adopt or which opinion to accept.
In conclusion although the life seems more beautiful in youth and college days with friends but the bad habits acquired and wrong opinions formed can only be overcome by maturity and stability in state of mind.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by agreeing that habits and opinions change with age. The position is clear throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. While the contrast between youth and maturity is established, the explanation of 'why' these changes occur is a bit superficial. For instance, the mention of 'advertisements' and 'peer pressure' is relevant, but the argument could be strengthened by providing a more concrete example or a deeper analysis of the psychological shift that occurs with ageing. The response covers all parts of the task, but the supporting points could be more fully extended to reach a higher band.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, with a clear introduction, body paragraphs contrasting youth and maturity, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Nevertheless', 'In conclusion', and 'In teenage or early youth', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the flow between sentences could be smoother. For example, the jump from discussing 'advertisements' to 'social media' in the third paragraph is abrupt. Additionally, the use of referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the pronoun 'he' being used to represent a generic person, which can feel slightly repetitive.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task. You use some good collocations like 'natural progression', 'peer pressure', and 'calm and composed'. However, there are instances of imprecise word choice and minor errors, such as 'age advances' (should be 'as age advances' or 'as one ages') and 'least bothered by other people opinions' (missing possessive 'people's'). The range is sufficient to convey your meaning, but there is a lack of more sophisticated or 'less common' lexical items that would elevate the response to a higher band. The vocabulary is functional but lacks precision in several areas.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors that affect the quality of the writing. Common issues include missing articles ('in teenage', 'in olden days'), punctuation errors (spaces before periods), and awkward phrasing ('the state of confusion and failure to take decision'). Subject-verb agreement and preposition usage also need attention. While you attempt complex sentences, they are not always error-free. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy and ensuring that complex structures are used with more precision.
