Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by agreeing that habits and opinions change with age. The position is clear throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you provide examples regarding musical taste and decision-making, the explanations are often repetitive and lack depth. For instance, the argument about decision-making is a bit circular, stating that people change because they have more experience, without fully exploring the psychological or social reasons behind this shift. To reach a higher band, ensure that each paragraph provides a more nuanced analysis of the 'why' and 'how' rather than just stating that changes occur.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, each with a clear central topic. You use some cohesive devices like 'The first and foremost', 'Moreover', and 'For instance' to link ideas. However, the flow is occasionally hindered by awkward phrasing and mechanical transitions. Some sentences feel disconnected, and the referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the conclusion where the sentence 'their mind is fresh and not think about it' lacks a clear antecedent. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between sentences would enhance the overall coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. There are several instances of awkward word choices, such as 'handful causes' instead of 'several reasons', and 'making decision skill is also alert' which is non-standard. You also rely on basic descriptors like 'modern' or 'good'. To improve, focus on using more sophisticated collocations and topic-specific vocabulary. For example, instead of saying 'taste of people change', you could use 'personal preferences evolve'. Spelling errors like 'elobrate', 'romatic', and 'histrocial' also detract from the overall quality.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay displays a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('habits and opinions are changed'), incorrect word order ('taste of their is changed'), and missing articles. While you attempt complex structures, they are often faulty, such as 'if students take decision to opting any stream'. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors like verb tense consistency and preposition usage. Increasing the variety of error-free complex sentences will significantly boost your score.
