Student answer (Band 7.0)
It is often argued that individuals naturally modify their routines and views as they mature over time. In my opinion, I strongly agree with this proposition because accumulating life experience alters one's perspective, and changing physical or social circumstances necessitate new daily routines.
To begin with, the principal reason why people's views evolve with age is that practical experience broadens their understanding of the world. When individuals encounter complex real-world responsibilities—such as managing finances, raising a family, or navigating a career—their earlier, often idealistic opinions are tested against reality. For example, a young person who initially favors impulsive spending may come to value strict financial discipline after taking on long-term commitments like a mortgage. As a result, cognitive maturity naturally leads to more pragmatic opinions.
Furthermore, physical changes and shifting daily priorities force people to adapt their lifestyle habits as they get older. This is primarily because health needs and time constraints evolve significantly across different stages of life. To illustrate, an individual in their twenties might prioritize late-night socializing and high-intensity sports, whereas a middle-aged professional is more likely to adopt structured sleep schedules and low-impact exercise routines to maintain long-term health. Consequently, changing priorities make habit adjustment an essential part of aging.
In conclusion, I firmly believe that changing both habits and opinions is a natural and common aspect of growing older. This is because lived experiences refine a person's mindset, alongside the reality that shifting health and life priorities demand new habits.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response clearly addresses the prompt, maintaining a consistent position throughout. The ideas regarding life experience and physical changes are well-developed and supported with relevant examples, such as financial responsibility and health-related lifestyle shifts. However, the response is 245 words long, which falls slightly short of the 250-word minimum requirement. This minor omission impacts the overall task achievement score, as the development is slightly curtailed by the length. To reach a higher band, ensure that you fully expand on your points to comfortably exceed the word count, perhaps by adding a more detailed concluding thought or a broader societal implication.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, two distinct body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Furthermore', and 'Consequently' are used effectively to guide the reader through the argument. Paragraphing is used appropriately, with each paragraph focusing on a central theme. The progression of ideas is smooth and easy to follow. To improve further, you could incorporate a wider variety of cohesive devices or use referencing more subtly to enhance the flow between sentences, though the current structure is already quite effective and clear.
Lexical Resource — Band 7.0
You demonstrate a good range of vocabulary, using terms like 'proposition', 'pragmatic', 'navigating', and 'high-intensity' appropriately. The language is precise and fits the formal tone of an IELTS essay. There are no significant errors in word choice or collocation. To move into the higher band, try to incorporate more sophisticated, less common lexical items or idiomatic collocations that show a deeper command of nuance. For example, instead of 'changing', you could use 'undergo a transformation' or 'shift in paradigm'. Overall, the vocabulary is sufficient and used with good control.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 7.5
The essay displays a good mix of simple and complex sentence structures. You use subordinate clauses effectively, such as 'When individuals encounter complex real-world responsibilities—such as managing finances...'. Grammar is generally accurate, and there are no errors that impede communication. Punctuation is used correctly to manage the flow of complex ideas. To achieve a higher band, aim to include a greater variety of complex grammatical structures, such as inversion or more advanced conditional sentences, while maintaining the high level of accuracy you have already demonstrated.
