Student answer (Band 6.5)
It is very common for people to change their habits and their opinions as they get older. I agree with this statement because people gain more experience and responsibilities in their lives, which can influence their way of thinking and change their habits. This essay will discuss this statement.
Firstly, people change their habit as they get older. In young age people may not pay attention to their health, they always spend most of their time on social media and sleep late. While they get older, they start focusing on health. For example, in young age people often consume junk food without any concern and after some year when they become older, they start eating healthy food, sleep early and follows health routine. In addition, responsibilities such as marriage, rising children and getting job make people more organized and disciplined.
Secondly, people opinion my changed because of the experiences they get throughout their lives. It is very common that young people gave strong opinion without any experience. Although they do not pay proper attention towards serious issues. However, after facing different situation, successes and failures they may understand things from different perspective. For example, younger people believe that earning high salary is more important, later after gaining more experience they realized that comfortable job environment, job satisfaction and family time is more important.
In conclusion, I believed people commonly change their habits and opinions as they get older. Health concern, increasing responsibilities and life experience are some of the main reasons behind these changes.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses the prompt clearly and maintains a consistent position throughout. The ideas regarding health habits and shifting priorities are relevant and supported with examples, such as the transition from valuing high salaries to prioritizing work-life balance. However, the development is somewhat basic. To reach a higher band, the essay could benefit from more nuanced exploration of why these changes occur, rather than just listing examples. The conclusion effectively summarizes the main points, ensuring the task requirements are met.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized with clear paragraphing. Each paragraph has a central topic, and the progression of ideas is easy to follow. Cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'In addition', 'Although', and 'In conclusion' are used to link ideas. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical, and there are minor issues with referencing and flow, such as the awkward phrasing 'While they get older' instead of 'As they get older'. Overall, the structure is coherent and serves the purpose of the argument well.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are some attempts at less common collocations like 'disciplined' and 'perspective', but the range is somewhat limited. There are also a few inaccuracies, such as 'rising children' (should be 'raising') and 'after some year' (should be 'after some years'). While these errors do not impede communication, they prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. Expanding the range of synonyms and refining word choice would improve the score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with verb tenses and subject-verb agreement, such as 'people opinion my changed' (should be 'people's opinions may change') and 'follows health routine' (should be 'follow a health routine'). Punctuation is generally functional, but the sentence structure is occasionally repetitive. To improve, the student should focus on consistent tense usage and ensuring articles and plural forms are used correctly.
