Student answer (Band 6.5)

The way of thinking and habits can be change for many individuals after a particular age period. I totally agree with this statement because the habits change after getting responsibilities in a life and more experiences can significantly develop new opinions.

To begin begin, less responsibilities are directly proportional to more freedom in a life. In other words, young adults have more leisure time in their life and they can spend more time in other things such as playing sports, sleeping late night, and doing parties. However, after entering in a full-time employment, it demands a proper time-table because professional life need more commitment. For example, college students can enjoy their life without thinking about tomorrow because they have few responsibilities which give them more leisure time to perform unplanned activities. Therefore, changes in circumstances naturally lead to changes in behavior.

Furthermore, individuals opinion can evolve after gaining some experiences and knowledge. Younger people think around their family members, relatives, and friends. But, when they encounter several cultures and traditions, it drastically drift their way of thinking. For instance, children early belief about good life is directly linked with having more money. However, after getting older, they realize that the key of ideal life is have a good work-life balance. Hence, maturity often enables people to develop more balanced prospective.

All in all, I strongly agree with this both habits and opinions commonly changes after certain age. More responsibilities allows people to modify their habits and the way of living, while more life experiences and knowledge can significantly develop new ideas and opinions towards life.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, clearly stating a position in the introduction and maintaining it throughout. The ideas are relevant and supported by examples, such as the transition from student life to professional employment and the shift in perspective regarding wealth versus work-life balance. While the development is logical, some points could be expanded further to reach a higher band. For instance, the explanation of how 'several cultures' influence thinking is a bit brief. Overall, the response is well-focused and directly answers the question, demonstrating a clear understanding of the task requirements.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Each paragraph has a central topic, and the progression of ideas is easy to follow. Cohesive devices such as 'To begin', 'However', 'Furthermore', and 'All in all' are used effectively to link sentences and paragraphs. There is a minor issue with the repetition of 'begin begin' in the second paragraph, but this does not significantly impede the flow. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the two main arguments, contributing to the overall coherence of the piece.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate and allows for clear communication. There are some attempts at less common items, such as 'drastically drift' and 'prospective' (which should be 'perspective'). However, there are occasional inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'doing parties' instead of 'having parties' or 'attending parties', and 'early belief' instead of 'initial beliefs'. While the range is sufficient to convey the intended meaning, more precise and varied vocabulary would be needed to reach a higher band. The errors do not cause confusion for the reader.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'habits can be change' (passive voice error), 'professional life need' (subject-verb agreement), and 'individuals opinion' (missing possessive apostrophe). Additionally, 'is have a good work-life balance' is grammatically incorrect. While these errors are frequent, they rarely impede communication. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement, correct verb forms in passive constructions, and the proper use of articles and possessives. The control of grammar is sufficient for a band 6, but more accuracy is required for a higher score.
