Student answer (Band 6.0)

In this day and age, technology has changed the lifestyle and perspective in numerous ways. As the people starts getting in their sixties their views and habits starts getting change. I am partially agree with this notion which I will explicate in upcoming paragraphs.

To start with, every stage of life is a lesson and specially at elder age thinking becomes more stable. To explicate it, as the older individual has gone through the various life lessons and struggles, so at that stage their vision becomes clear about identifying things and people. Along with this, seniors start adapting the healthy lifestyle because in this age diseases attack faster. They start concentrating in visiting religious places and giving good education to their grandchildren. According to the recent survey, youngsters make 50% more mistakes as compared to the elders.

On the other hand, some people get involved in bad companies and still continue the same thing in their entire life. To explain it, individual who become the part of corruption and drug companies to make the benefits still continue the same profession without any age restrictions. Their habits of taking drugs and running unauthorized business does not change. So, the vision and way of living depends more on the company a person follows instead of age. For instance, Major issues in political parties are due to the higher involvement of elder politicians.

To conclude it, age of the individual matters to some extent to decide their habits and opinions but the upbringing plays the same role.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position ('partially agree'). The ideas are relevant, such as the influence of life experience on maturity and the counter-argument regarding the persistence of negative habits. However, the development is somewhat uneven. The point about 'youngsters making 50% more mistakes' is an unsupported generalization, and the example regarding 'drug companies' is slightly unclear in its phrasing. To improve, ensure that each point is fully explained with more precise examples rather than broad claims. The conclusion is brief but summarizes the main stance effectively.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear central topic. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To start with', 'On the other hand', and 'To conclude it', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'To explicate it' used twice. The progression of ideas is generally clear, but the referencing could be smoother. For instance, the transition between the idea of 'bad companies' and the example of 'political parties' could be more tightly linked to improve the flow of the argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'explicate' and 'unauthorized', though 'explicate' is used somewhat repetitively and unnaturally. Some word choices are imprecise, such as 'drug companies' (which likely refers to criminal gangs or associations) and 'getting change'. To reach a higher band, focus on more natural collocations and avoid repeating the same transition phrases. The range is sufficient to convey the intended meaning without significant difficulty for the reader.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('people starts', 'views and habits starts') and article usage ('the people', 'the elder age'). While these errors do not impede communication, they are persistent throughout the text. The use of complex structures is present but often contains minor inaccuracies. To improve, pay closer attention to basic subject-verb agreement and the correct use of plural/singular forms, as these are foundational elements that currently detract from the overall accuracy of the writing.
