Student answer (Band 6.5)
It is often said that, as people grow older their way of thinking and adapting changes, and I completely agree with this statement.
One reason, I think that the people change their life-style and habits is because of the age factor and responsibility they get. For instance, people in their childhood spends more time with their families and socialise with friends and participate in different entertainment activities. However, as they grow older, they get more focus on their career and take responsibility towards their family Hence, they develop a new healthier lifestyle such as maintaining a good physique and hygiene, be more cautious in spending their money and often learn a new skill or activity.
Similarly, people opinons can also change with time as they gain more knowledge and experience. When individuals, are young they often remain confused about their careers and get strongly influenced by their families or friends. However, after experiencing different situations and meeting with other individuals from various backgrounds they may begin to see things from different perspective. For instance, a person in their childhood may think that the higher salary will give more pleasure and stability in life, they may later realize that healthy lifestyle and spending time with their family is equally important.
In conclusion, I strongly agree that people lifestyle and opinion get change with the time and responsibility and have a significant impact on their daily habits and the way they see this world,

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by agreeing that habits and opinions change with age. The position is clear throughout. However, the response falls short of the 250-word minimum requirement, which negatively impacts the development of ideas. While the arguments regarding career focus and life experience are relevant, they are somewhat brief and could have been extended with more specific, nuanced examples to fully satisfy the requirements for a higher band. The conclusion is also slightly abrupt due to the word count limitation.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each focusing on a distinct aspect of the prompt (habits and opinions). Cohesive devices such as 'For instance', 'However', and 'Similarly' are used to guide the reader through the arguments. While the flow is generally smooth, some transitions feel slightly mechanical. The paragraphing is appropriate, and the progression of ideas is logical, moving from childhood habits to adult responsibilities and then to the evolution of personal opinions. Overall, the structure is coherent and easy to follow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express ideas clearly. There are some attempts at less common collocations, such as 'maintaining a good physique' and 'stability in life'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there are minor inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'people opinons can also change' (should be 'people's opinions') and 'people lifestyle' (should be 'people's lifestyles'). To reach a higher band, the student should incorporate more precise, academic vocabulary and ensure correct possessive forms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is always clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('people in their childhood spends', 'people lifestyle and opinion get change') and punctuation (unnecessary commas in 'When individuals, are young'). These errors are noticeable but do not impede communication. To improve, the student should focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy and ensuring consistent use of plural/singular forms and correct verb tenses.
