Student answer (Band 5.5)

Undoubtedly, we are dwelling in the modern world, where numerous changes can be noticed by age , particularly in individual's daily routine. While I agree with this statement. However, I reckon that it totally depends on the circumstances.

To begin with, a person's mind develops with the growing age. To elaborate, we all notice that in the primary schools, most children do not have control over their routine and they are always under the surveillance of their parents and teachers at homes and institutions respectively, and as they get more young the pupils decide to take their own decisions. As a result, their opinions gets changed. Accordingly to the census of times of India in 2011, a human mind develops after the age of 25 and along with that a man's way of talking and walking alters accordingly.

On the other hand, it also varies according to an adult's mindset. In other words, If the person does not want to uplift his mentality, age just remains a number for that man. In the meantime, not only the youngster but also the elders are using mobiles phones in their daily lives and they are unable to get rid off this routine. Hence, youngers get distracted from their studies and old age civilians are having health issues. For instance, according to the recent survey, over 70 percent of students are having a disease called myopia.

In Conclusion, while most of the individuals manage to change their habits as they grow up, it is not same for all.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by discussing how habits and opinions change with age. However, the development of ideas is inconsistent. While you provide a clear stance, the supporting arguments are sometimes tangential or under-developed. For example, the reference to the 'census of Times of India' and the specific claim about 'myopia' in students are not directly relevant to the core argument about changing opinions and habits. To improve, ensure that every example directly supports your central thesis rather than introducing loosely related statistics. The conclusion is also quite brief and does not fully synthesize the main points discussed in the body paragraphs.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use some cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'On the other hand', and 'In conclusion'. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly inaccurate, such as the transition 'While I agree with this statement. However, I reckon...' which creates a sentence fragment and awkward flow. Additionally, the logical progression within paragraphs is occasionally disrupted by abrupt shifts in topic, such as moving from child development to a specific census, and then to mobile phone usage. Improving the logical links between sentences will enhance the overall flow.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using words like 'surveillance', 'mentality', and 'distracted'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'dwelling in the modern world', 'get more young', and 'old age civilians'. These errors occasionally make the text sound unnatural. To reach a higher band, focus on using collocations more accurately and avoid over-relying on basic phrasing. Expanding your range to include more precise academic vocabulary would also be beneficial, as some of your current word choices are slightly informal or imprecise.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'their opinions gets changed' (subject-verb agreement), 'Accordingly to the census' (incorrect preposition), and 'get rid off' (spelling/phrasal verb error). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of commas and sentence fragments. To improve, focus on mastering subject-verb agreement and ensuring that complex sentences are constructed with correct grammatical markers. Proofreading for basic errors like 'off' vs 'of' will also help improve your score.
