Student answer (Band 6.0)
It can be generally seen that human behaviour is changed as age increases. This fact can not be denied at any cost. Therefore, I agree with this thought of school.
To begin with, one significant transformation can be seen in their diet. They are become more health-conscious. For instance, when they are young, they prefer to eat fast food to a sufficient degree because of the taste, but in their later years they like to consume home made ,which are full of beneficial nutrients to keep their immune system strong. Apart from these, they also learn how to manage the money effectively in order to reduce their expenses. For example, they try to save their money in banks in the form of fix deposit or under other schemes which are going on.
Moving further, They like to spend more time with family as much as possible because some of them had to leave far away from home due to their study or work responsibilities while at young age. Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by agreeing that habits and opinions change with age. You provide relevant examples, such as dietary changes and financial management. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the point about 'investing money in the wrong places' is a good start but lacks a clear explanation of how this specifically alters one's opinion or habit in the long term. To reach a higher band, ensure that each supporting example is fully linked back to the core argument of how and why these changes occur as a result of the aging process.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Apart from these', and 'Moving further' to connect your points. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical or slightly unnatural, such as 'Apart from these' when referring to dietary habits. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the use of 'they' which sometimes lacks a precise antecedent. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between sentences would enhance the overall flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'health-conscious', 'immune system', and 'responsibilities'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'fix deposit' (should be 'fixed deposit') and 'this thought of school' (which is unclear and likely a misuse of vocabulary). The range is sufficient to convey your meaning, but it lacks the precision and flexibility required for higher bands. Focusing on learning common collocations and using more precise academic vocabulary would help improve this score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While your meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'They are become more health-conscious' (incorrect verb form), 'home made' (missing noun), and 'they to suffer' (missing verb). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma placement. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. You should focus on subject-verb agreement and ensuring that complex sentences are constructed accurately to improve your control over grammar.
