Student answer (Band 5.0)

I agree with it.peoples got older and their opinion and habits changed. Thats natural to change habits or opinions.when we grow oldder we start seeing life from our perspective. because when we were kids we believe in what people said not what our mind told us we though that the person is old maybe he is right and we start doing what that person said but when we start growing up we start realizing our mistakes we start knowing how messud up our decisions are and then we start trying to change ourselves our opinions our habits so that we dont do the same mistake again. like if i talk about my personal experience my habits were different when i was a kid i used to get up late use mobile all the time and always say that if something is written for me it will come to me i dont have to do struggle to get that thing when i grow up iwas shocked because thats not how it works if i want something i have to do struggle to get that thing my opinion start changing i start doing the struggle to get the things i want and because of that opinion my habits also starts to change.

In conclusion we have to change our habits when we start getting older. We start getting mature and also start understanding things so clearly thats why our opinions and habbits start changing. We have to accept our flaws and start working on it instead of just accepting that cant change our habbits and opinions.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by agreeing that habits and opinions change with age. While the position is clear, the development of ideas is somewhat simplistic. The essay relies heavily on a single personal anecdote to support the argument, which limits the depth of the discussion. To reach a higher band, you should explore broader societal or psychological reasons for these changes, such as the impact of education, life experiences, or changing responsibilities, rather than focusing solely on personal habits like waking up late. The ideas are relevant but could be more thoroughly extended to provide a more comprehensive analysis of the topic.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organized into three paragraphs, which is a basic structure. However, the flow between sentences is often disjointed due to a lack of cohesive devices. Many sentences are run-on or lack proper punctuation, making the progression of ideas feel mechanical. For example, the transition between the introduction and the body paragraph is abrupt. You rely on simple conjunctions like 'and' or 'because' rather than using a variety of linking words (e.g., 'consequently', 'furthermore', 'in contrast') to guide the reader through your argument. Improving the use of transition signals would significantly enhance the logical flow.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, which restricts the ability to express complex ideas. You frequently use basic terms like 'change', 'habits', and 'opinions'. There are also several spelling errors, such as 'messud' (messed) and 'habbits' (habits), and grammatical inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'do struggle' instead of 'make an effort' or 'struggle'. While the meaning is generally clear, the range of vocabulary is not sufficient to demonstrate the flexibility required for higher bands. Incorporating more precise academic vocabulary and collocations would improve the quality of your writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors, particularly regarding sentence structure, punctuation, and verb tense consistency. Many sentences are run-on, lacking full stops or commas, which makes the text difficult to read. There are also issues with subject-verb agreement and article usage, such as 'peoples got older' instead of 'people get older'. While you attempt some complex sentences, they are often faulty or lack the necessary punctuation to be grammatically sound. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and ensuring that your tenses remain consistent throughout the piece.
