Student answer (Band 5.0)

It is true that as we grow older our habits and opinions are changed by the time. I completely agree with this point of view and I shall explain in the upcoming paragraphs.

Firstly, It is a fact that time changes everything. by the time in our day to day life we learn a lot and also we face so many things and learn from them too. we learn how to manage circumstances, how to react in emergency situation, how to talk, how impact things to our life, and also we used to change the daily happenings of our childhood when we enter in adulthood. Due to these incidents people change their habits and opinion.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, as it is only 116 words long and remains incomplete. Because the essay stops abruptly after the second paragraph, the task is only partially addressed. The position is clear, but the ideas are severely underdeveloped due to the lack of completion. To improve, you must ensure you provide a full introduction, at least two well-developed body paragraphs with specific examples, and a concluding summary. The current length significantly limits your ability to demonstrate the depth of argument required for a higher band score.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay uses basic cohesive devices such as 'Firstly' and 'Secondly' to signal structure, but the abrupt ending prevents any logical progression or conclusion. Paragraphing is attempted, but the second paragraph is left empty, which disrupts the flow of the text. The ideas within the first body paragraph are somewhat repetitive and lack a clear, logical sequence. To improve, ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence and that you use a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'consequently,' 'furthermore,' 'in contrast') to connect your ideas more fluidly throughout the entire essay.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, relying on basic phrasing such as 'time changes everything' and 'learn a lot.' There are some awkward collocations, such as 'how impact things to our life,' which hinder clarity. While the meaning is generally understandable, the range of vocabulary is insufficient to express complex ideas effectively. To reach a higher band, you should aim to incorporate more precise, academic vocabulary and collocations related to the topic of personal development and maturity, rather than relying on generic, informal language.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The text contains frequent grammatical errors, including issues with subject-verb agreement and sentence structure. For example, 'our habits and opinions are changed by the time' is passive and unnatural, and 'how impact things to our life' is grammatically incorrect. There are also punctuation errors, such as starting sentences with lowercase letters ('by the time,' 'we learn'). The range of structures is limited to simple and compound sentences. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and proofreading for capitalization and verb tense consistency.
