Student answer (Band 6.5)

There is a trending practice taking place from ages about transforming old habits and opinions into new ones as people gain maturity. I strongly agree to this phenomenon. This essay will highlight few supporting reasons why does changing habits and opinion is appropriate with some relevant examples.

To begin with, a substantial number of people often transform their habits and opinions according to the their environment. In other words, life does not stay constantly the same when people are younger. It is a universal fact that the period between kid to teenager depends mostly on parents. Thus, children tend to enjoy life and build good habits and satisfying opinions about the life. However, as they grow older they have to come out of there comfort zone and try to survive alone by experiencing life strategies. This is where they change their perspective and their old habits. They try to think differently and work on every aspect of life in order to obtain good habits. For example, I came abroad in order to build a successful career which totally changed me from thinking every situation in a different aspect. In addition, I started incorporating new hobbies in life which correspond to my daily routine.

Another compelling reason is that people have to always change their perspective and their interest based on the trend going on in the world. In this fast developing world, people believe in following things with the present generation. If one country starts the trend of playing soccer every night, then whole world change their way of thinking, They start including that particular thing in their life as well because they wanted to be considered one of those. For example, today's generation is called Gen-Z. This generation frequently transforms there ideas and habits so that they do not stand out from the world for the betterment of their status.

In conclusion, I think that changing the way of thinking and incorporating new habits according to the current generation is worthwhile and brings significant changes in life. Therefore, constantly developing new ideas and ambitions is a positive impact on life.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

You have clearly stated your position and maintained it throughout the essay. You addressed the prompt by discussing why habits and opinions change as people age, providing reasons related to environmental shifts and social trends. However, the development of your ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the example regarding 'Gen-Z' and soccer is a bit generalized and lacks a strong logical connection to the core argument of personal maturity. To reach a higher band, ensure that your examples are more specific and directly support the main point of each paragraph, rather than relying on broad generalizations about global trends.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, and there is a logical progression of ideas. You use cohesive devices such as 'To begin with,' 'In other words,' and 'In conclusion' to link your thoughts. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical, and there are instances where the flow is slightly disrupted by awkward phrasing, such as 'This is where they change their perspective and their old habits.' Additionally, the use of referencing is occasionally unclear, particularly in the second paragraph where the connection between global trends and individual maturity is not fully bridged.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'phenomenon,' 'substantial,' and 'incorporating.' However, there are several instances of imprecise word choice and minor collocation errors, such as 'came abroad' (should be 'moved abroad') and 'thinking every situation in a different aspect' (which is awkward). While your vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning, it lacks the precision and sophistication required for higher bands. Focusing on more natural collocations and avoiding repetitive phrasing would significantly improve your score in this area.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is good. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow of reading. Examples include 'why does changing habits and opinion is appropriate' (should be 'why changing habits and opinions is appropriate'), 'according to the their environment,' and 'whole world change their way of thinking' (missing articles). There are also issues with subject-verb agreement and pronoun usage, such as 'they wanted to be considered' (should be 'they want'). While these errors do not prevent understanding, they are frequent enough to limit your score.
