Student answer (Band 6.5)
It is often argued that many people tend to change their habits and opinions as they grow older. I strongly agree with this view because people gain new experiences and take on different responsibilities and develop a better understanding of life over time.
One major reason why people change their habits is that their lifestyle and responsibilities change with age. To explicit more, young people often fewer responsibilities and they may spend their free time socializing with friends and family, play games watch movies and stay up late. However, when they become adults and start working or raising a family. They must adopt a change in their habits. For example, a young people may sleep late everyday and eat fast food but after starting a job and getting married their responsibilities has increased which make them more disciplined towards life.
People can also change their opinion because of education and life experiences. As individual become older, they are exposed to different cultures, people and situations, which can change their previous beliefs. For example, someone who once believed that working from home was less productive might change their opinion after experiencing remote work and discovering that it can save commute time and create mote balance life between work and personal. In the same way travelling to different countries can make people more open minded about culture and lifestyles that are different from their own.
In conclusion, I completely agree that people change their habits and opinion as they get older. Because they go through with life experiences and unforeseen circumstances, education and major life events all this contributes to the way people think and behave into their life.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The student presents a clear position throughout the essay, agreeing that people change habits and opinions as they age. All parts of the task are addressed, and main ideas are extended and supported with relevant examples, such as the transition from youth to adult responsibilities and how remote work shifts opinions. While some ideas like the generalisation about young people could be slightly more refined, the response successfully satisfies the requirements of a Band 7 level. The development is logical and covers both habits and opinions adequately.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay displays a clear overall progression and logical organisation throughout. Paragraphing is used appropriately, with distinct paragraphs for habits and opinions respectively. Cohesive devices are used to connect ideas, such as 'One major reason why', 'For example', and 'In conclusion'. However, there are some minor mechanical errors in cohesion and referencing, such as fragment sentences ('When they become adults and start working or raising a family. They must adopt...') and minor transitional awkwardness ('To explicit more'), which keeps this criterion firmly at a Band 6.5 or 6.0. We will award a Band 6.5 for the generally clear logical flow despite occasional faulty mechanics.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as 'unforeseen circumstances', 'open minded', and 'disciplined towards life'. However, there are noticeable word choice and collocation inaccuracies, including 'To explicit more' instead of 'To explain further', 'a young people' (grammatical/lexical slip), and 'mote balance life' (typographical/lexical error). Despite these flaws, communication is never impeded, and the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the intended meaning, matching the Band 6 descriptor well.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, incorporating conditional-like structures ('when they become adults and start working or raising a family') and relative clauses. However, there are frequent grammatical errors and punctuation issues, such as sentence fragments ('They must adopt a change in their habits.'), subject-verb agreement errors ('As individual become older', 'responsibilities has increased'), and missing articles ('create mote balance life'). These errors occasionally interrupt the reading flow but do not impede overall communication, placing the response comfortably within the Band 6 category.
