Student answer (Band 5.5)

Nowadays, every persons have various types of habits, some like good habits and few like bad habits. Most of the time people change there habits according to there age and other side some individuals can not change there habits. I strongly agree with the statement for people to change both their habits and their opinions as they get older. In this essay i will discuss this statement in upcoming paragraphs.

First, Most of the person habit change because there responsibilities change. When I was teenager, I wake up late and playing football or video games and eating junk food. However, as now an adult , I have a full time job. Now, I go to bed early because I need to wake up at 6:00 AM. I also eat healthy food because I want to stay fit and avoid getting sick. My habits changed because my daily life demands change.

Second, Our opinions change because we gain new knowledge. When I was younger, I thought that money was the most important thing in the world. But after working few year my opinion changed. I realized free time, health, and time spend with family member more valuable as compare to make more money. So, these few reasons, I think according the age people change their habits and their opinion also.

In conclusion, changing habits and opinion is not a sigh of weakness, It is a sign of growing development. It is completely normal and healthy for people to change their minds and there daily routines over time.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt directly by taking a clear position that people change their habits and opinions as they get older. The ideas are relevant and supported with personal examples, such as comparing teenage habits like staying up late and playing video games with adult responsibilities like maintaining a full-time job and eating healthy. However, the development of ideas tends to be slightly simplistic and brief, lacking deeper elaboration or a broader societal perspective. The position is maintained throughout the essay, but the overall depth of task response aligns best with a Band 6, where relevant ideas are presented but remain somewhat under-developed or simplistic in comparison to higher-band expectations.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay displays a generally coherent overall arrangement with clear paragraphing, dividing the response into a clear introduction, two body paragraphs focusing separately on habits and opinions, and a conclusion. Transitional markers such as 'First', 'Second', and 'In conclusion' are used to structure the text, although they are somewhat mechanical. Referencing and cohesive devices are generally functional, but there are instances of clunky or repetitive phrasing, such as 'there habits according to there age and other side some individuals'. Progression is logical, yet the overall cohesion suffers from simple transitional structures and occasional referencing confusion, placing it firmly at a Band 6 level.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully communicating ideas related to daily routines, employment, and personal growth ('responsibilities', 'full time job', 'healthy food', 'knowledge'). However, there are numerous lexical and spelling errors throughout the text, such as confusing 'there' with 'their' multiple times, 'every persons' instead of 'every person' or 'all people', and 'sigh' instead of 'sign'. Less common vocabulary is attempted with limited accuracy. While the message remains understandable, the frequency of basic word-choice and spelling errors prevents the score from reaching a Band 6, positioning this response at Band 5.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some ability to form conditional or relative clauses ('When I was teenager, I wake up late...', 'as now an adult, I have a full time job'). However, grammatical accuracy is noticeably weak. There are frequent errors in subject-verb agreement ('every persons have', 'person habit change'), missing articles ('as now an adult', 'after working few year'), and tense consistency ('wake up', 'playing', and 'eating' mixed improperly). These errors require the reader to occasionally decode the intended meaning, which aligns with the Band 5 descriptor where frequent errors in grammar persist and cause some difficulty.
