Student answer (Band 6.0)

There is no doubt with the age difference people change their thoughts and way of living. When we get old, we tend to think more and face more difficulties in our life. I am fully agreeing with this statement. I will discuss my viewpoints in next paragraphs.

To begin with, there are number of reasons about changes in people's imagination and lifestyle. Firstly. Burdon of responsibilities, as in our childhood we are free of all tensions, and we do things without any hesitations. Our habits are natural and we enjoy them, but when time changes and our responsibilities become more higher, they have to think more deeply and had to change their life according to their work behaviour. For example, in my childhood I used to get up late in the morning because I do not had any pressure of being late from work or school but now my habit changed with the time. I get up early to reach on time.

Moreover, life experience change with the age difference. we meet new people in our everyday life. we get closer with people and we observe them. we admire people who are successful in their life, so we adopt them and change our opinions. however, some people may leave negative or positive expression on us, but we still change ourselves to make the best version of us. For instance, when we saw celebrities, people tend to follow them or copy them as they can change their life to reach the level of satisfaction.

In conclusion. Age difference plays a significant role in changing habits and opinions of common people. People tend to change their life with new responsibilities and increasing interaction with new people.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt directly, taking a clear and consistent position in agreement with the statement that people change habits and opinions as they age. The writer introduces relevant main ideas regarding responsibilities and social interactions, supporting them with personal examples, such as changing sleep habits due to work pressures and being influenced by celebrities. However, some ideas are a little underdeveloped and rely on over-generalisation. For example, the link between observing successful people and changing one's entire opinion is slightly repetitive and lacks deeper elaboration. Overall, the task is addressed adequately, placing it firmly in the Band 6 category.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas, such as responsibilities in the second paragraph and life experience and social interaction in the third. However, cohesion is sometimes faulty or mechanical. There are noticeable punctuation errors acting as cohesive disruptions, such as 'Firstly. Burdon of responsibilities...' and 'In conclusion. Age difference...'. Additionally, referencing is occasionally imprecise, and the progression between sentences can feel abrupt at times. Nonetheless, the overall logical flow is maintained throughout the response.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The writer demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as 'responsibilities', 'interaction', and 'satisfaction'. However, there are several word choice, spelling, and collocation errors that detract from the precision of the writing, including 'Burdon' instead of 'burden', 'age difference' instead of 'ageing', and 'expression' instead of 'impression'. While these lexical errors occur with some frequency, they do not impede overall communication, as the writer's meaning remains clear. This profile aligns well with the Band 6 descriptors.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The student uses a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, incorporating subordinating clauses such as 'when time changes and our responsibilities become more higher'. However, there are frequent grammatical inaccuracies and issues with punctuation and verb tenses throughout the text. Examples include 'we do not had any pressure', 'responsibilities become more higher' (comparative error), and fragment sentences like 'Firstly. Burdon of responsibilities...'. Despite these recurring errors in grammar and punctuation, the meaning is generally clear and they rarely impede communication. The control of grammar corresponds to a Band 5.5 or 6.0, settling safely at Band 6.
