Student answer (Band 6.5)

Changes are the ultimate reality of life, and to get oneself altered with age, in terms of one's habits and perspectives, is a common sight since ages. While people hold varying opinions regarding this notion, I strongly agree with the aforementioned statement.

Among all the factors that align with perception of change, what stands out the most is the maturity individuals get while confronting numerous circumstances as they grow. This can be articulated in the way that situations teach people the life lessons which cannot be taught by any academic institution, leading people to be more meticulous about the outcomes. In this way, humans attempt to be even more strategic by making appropriate changes in their overall nature. To demonstrate this, I would like to cite an example of a person who quit alcohol at middle age after consuming it all his life, when he finds a serious deterioration of body organs. Not only the change in habits, these life events contribute largely in changed viewpoints too as they would be trying to advise in this matter for rest of the life.

What's more that adds to modifications in opinions primiraly lies in exposure of life. The more a person is exploring world and mankind, the more chances are there for him to have better thoughts. Take a consideration of a mother who used to be so delicate being a child in her initial days of life, crying over little things and tring to impress everyone around. If i turn the phase to simply in her 50s, there is no better person than her to get advice from because of the overall life shift which eventually changes habits and opinions. Consequently, some people become more health concious with age, be it physical or mental, while others become more disciplined for life. There is no denying the fact that some turn in negative states too which is mostly because of mishappenings of life.

To encapsulate, although changes can be influenced by various reasons, but i wholeheartedly accord with the effect of age to get changed in life. Most people in life get unique experiences, and hence change in habits, nature and perceptions.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The response fully addresses all parts of the task by taking a clear, well-developed position on whether people change their habits and opinions as they get older. The writer introduces relevant ideas and supports them with specific examples, such as a person quitting alcohol in middle age and the psychological shift of a mother over decades. The arguments are extended logically throughout the essay, demonstrating a good understanding of the prompt's requirements. Although some generalizations are made, the position remains consistent from the introduction to the conclusion, satisfying the criteria for a strong band score.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay displays a clear logical organization and progression throughout. Information and ideas are arranged coherently, with distinct paragraphs dedicated to separate supporting arguments. Cohesive devices such as 'Among all the factors', 'What's more', and 'To encapsulate' are used to connect ideas, though there are minor mechanical instances or slightly awkward transitions (e.g., 'If i turn the phase to simply in her 50s'). Paragraphing is used sufficiently and appropriately to structure the response, ensuring the reader can easily follow the progression of thought.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The student uses an adequate and at times ambitious range of vocabulary for the task, attempting less common items such as 'meticulous', 'strategic', 'deterioration', and 'perceptions'. However, there are some noticeable inaccuracies in word choice, spelling, and collocation, such as 'primiraly', 'tring', 'health concious', and 'mishappenings'. Despite these occasional errors, the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the intended meaning clearly without impeding communication, aligning well with the descriptors for Band 6.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The writer demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing relative clauses and conditional structures (e.g., 'The more a person is exploring world and mankind, the more chances are there for him to have better thoughts'). There are several grammatical errors and awkward phrasings throughout the text, such as 'to get oneself altered with age', 'since ages', 'when he finds', and the use of lowercase 'i'. While these errors do not impede overall communication, they prevent the text from achieving a higher band, placing it solidly in the Band 6 category.
