Student answer (Band 6.0)
It has been noticed that when people get older, it is much easier for them to not only change their habits but opinions as well. I strongly agree with this statement and the possible reasons behind this phenomenon will be explain in subsequent paragraphs.
On the one hand, people have reckoned that elder people are mature enough to adapt the changes in themselves. Even if it is related to make changes in certain habits such as investing funds rather than just saving the money. Furthermore, they are more welcoming to give and take opinions because they already have some life experiences related to the particular situations, which make them fully aware about the positives and negative outcomes in advance. Therefore, they are already prepare for the possible results, so it not hard for them to grab habits or opinions. For Instance, In working organizations, the senior workers are mor open to adapt cultural environment whenever the new regulations are introduced as compared to the young workforce.
On the other hand, some people disagree with the former notion as they believe habits are unchangeable. When people are in their forties or above that age, they become rigid about their preferences, which makes them even stubborn sometimes. Moreover, due to some superiority complex, they want others to change their routines for themselves. To illustrate, In joint family, it has been often observed that old generation make house rules and the following young generation follows the directions.
In conclusion, Although, it has been said by some people that elder generation find it easy to change their habits and opinions because of maturity level , while others oppose this viewpoint as they think as the person gets older, they also stay consistent to the life rules that they have made for themself.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both sides of the argument and clearly stating a personal position in the introduction. The ideas are extended and supported with relevant examples, such as senior workers in working organizations adapting to cultural environments and families with old generations making rules. While some ideas like the superiority complex are slightly generalized, the position remains clear throughout the essay. The task is successfully completed without any under-length penalties, as the word count requirement has been fully met.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay presents a clear overall progression and follows a traditional four-paragraph structure with an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting opposing views, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are used to signal relationships between ideas, such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'In conclusion'. However, some referencing is slightly faulty or mechanical, such as 'so it not hard for them' and awkward transitions. Paragraphing is used sufficiently and appropriately, but logical progression within paragraphs occasionally stumbles due to phrasing issues.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting less common lexical items such as 'phenomenon', 'superiority complex', and 'unchangeable'. However, there are noticeable word-choice and collocation errors throughout the text, such as 'adapt the changes' instead of 'adapt to the changes', 'elder people' instead of 'older people', and 'grab habits' instead of 'adopt habits'. Despite these inaccuracies, the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the intended meaning without impeding communication.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, including conditional or relative clauses. However, there are frequent grammatical errors in verb forms, prepositions, and sentence construction. Examples include 'will be explain' (should be explained), 'to make changes' (should be making changes), 'they are already prepare' (should be prepared), and 'old generation make house rules' (missing articles). Punctuation and word-formation slips also occur, such as 'mor open' instead of 'more open'. These errors reflect a control level typical of a Band 5.5 to 6.0.
