It is very common for people to change both their habits and their opinions as they get older.

Do you agree or disagree?

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is widely true that people often change their habits and views as they grow older and opinions.I agree with statement because people gain more experience and their priorities often change throughtout their lives. So, I will elaborate on reasons with examples in these paragraphs.

To commence with,people's habits can change because their responsibities increase with age.A clear of this is that young people may spend most of their free games, watching movies,or going out with friends.However,after starting a career or having children, they may have less freetime and develop healthier and more organised routines.They may also become more concerned about their health,so they start exercising regularly and eating nutritious food.

Secondly, people's opinions can change as they gain life experience. when people are young, they may have strong opinions based mainly on what theirs parents, teachers or friends tell them.As they become older,however,they meet different people and experience different situations.As a results,they may reconsider their previous beliefs.For instance,someone who once believed that working long hours was the best way to succeed might later realise that maintaining a good work-life balance is equally important.

To sum up,it can be said that people tend to change both their habits and opinions as they get older.This happens mainly because their responsibilities,priorities and experiences change over time.
