Student answer (Band 6.0)
In these modern times, It is widely seen that many people change both their habits and their opinions as they grow older. I agree with this view because people mature with time and their circumstances also change with time.
To begin with, people become wiser and mature with time because it teaches them valuable lessons of life. To explain it, people go through unique situations in different age periods, it enables them to learn to react accordingly. Therefore, people get mature with the growing age. For example, In teenage children often eat junk food, but at older age they start eating healthy food because they get aware about harmful effects of fast food.
Furthermore, people change both their habits and their opinions because circumstances change with time.
This is because individuals are exposed to new challenges in every age period. Thus, it enables people to react wisely . As a result, habits and opinions get new shape with new situations. For instance,
An employe who works in a multi national Company, lives a disciplined life with a structured routine and daily habits. This is because he requires discipline in his life in order to achieve his work goals. Hence, people change their habits and
opinions with growing age.
In conclusion,I agree with this view that individuals often change their habits and opinions as
they grow older, and this due to increased maturity and
different circumstances in life.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The student addresses the prompt by clearly agreeing that people change habits and opinions as they grow older. A position is presented and maintained throughout the essay. However, the response has a few limitations. Firstly, it falls short of the minimum word count requirement, containing only 237 words instead of the required 250, which impacts the overall fullness of task completion. Secondly, while ideas are introduced, they tend to be somewhat repetitive and under-developed, relying on general assertions rather than fully extended arguments. For example, the explanation regarding teenagers eating junk food versus adults eating healthy food is a bit simplistic and lacks further extension. Because the length requirement was not met and ideas are somewhat limited, a band score of 5.5 is appropriate for this criterion.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into a recognizable introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas. Cohesive devices are employed, such as To begin with, Furthermore, For example, and In conclusion, which help guide the reader through the text. However, referencing and cohesion can feel somewhat mechanical and repetitive at times, particularly with the frequent use of transition phrases like with time and with growing age. Logical progression is present, but the overall connections between sentences could be smoother. Balancing these strengths and weaknesses, the response fits well within the Band 6 descriptor for this criterion.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The student demonstrates an adequate vocabulary range for the task, successfully conveying meaning related to maturity, habits, and changing circumstances. There are attempts to use less common vocabulary, such as multi national Company, disciplined life, and structured routine. However, there are noticeable word choice and spelling errors throughout the text, including employe instead of employee, multi national written with a space, and get aware instead of become aware. Additionally, vocabulary choices are occasionally repetitive, relying frequently on words like time, habits, and opinions. These errors do not impede overall communication, placing the response solidly at Band 6 for lexical resource.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The writer uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, including conditional and subordinate clauses such as because people mature with time and when an employee works. There are instances of good grammatical control, but sentence structures often feature minor mechanical issues or awkward phrasing, such as people get mature with the growing age and and this due to increased maturity. Punctuation errors are also present, including missing spaces after commas and capitalization slips like In conclusion,I agree. Despite these frequent minor errors, the meaning remains clear and communication is not impeded. Therefore, this performance aligns with Band 6.
