Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is argued by a group of people, people change their routines and beliefs as they get older. People have different habits at their younger age than the older age. I completely agree with this statement as older people change their habits due to less physical flexibility and different interests.
In terms of physical flexibility, old age people are not physically flexible as younger generation. In other terms, they face many physical challenges, such as joint pain, weak bones, and heart diseases. People who prefer to do exercises and yoga to stay fit in their 20's and 30's, they like to do light exercise in older age because their health do not allow them to do heavy exercises. Moreover, doctors also advice them to avoid exercises which can cause cardiovascular diseases and pain in their body. Since, it is very difficult to recover from old age injuries pain, their bones are strong enough. Therefore, more their habits change, more they get older. For example, old individuals love to utilize their leisure time with their family, whereas youngster like to spend their quality time with their friends.
Furthermore, when people young they prioritize friends, entertainment activity, social activities and travel; however, older people prefer financial stability, family, and good health. There preferences change because elderly people have more experience than youngsters. They understand better about the people. For example, young people may love to spend time with their friends, but older people tend to prioritize their family over friends. As a direct result, their experiences and interests change their habits.
To conclude, people interests and habits change because of reduced physical flexibility and other diseases. Additionally, older people have more exposure of different situations and they change their habits for their future. In my opinion this is good phenomenon to stay healthy and financial stable.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by clearly stating a position agreeing that people change habits and opinions as they age, and supports this with two main reasons: physical flexibility and changing interests/experience. The ideas are relevant and generally extended, mentioning health issues, injuries, and shifting priorities from friends to family. However, there is a tendency to over-generalise and some points, such as the sentence 'Therefore, more their habits change, more they get older,' are slightly confused in their logical extension. Furthermore, some arguments are repetitive. Overall, the content meets the criteria for Band 6.5, leaning towards Band 6 due to under-developed support in places.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is arranged coherently with a clear introduction and conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate physical factors from social/psychological factors. Cohesive devices are employed, such as 'In terms of physical flexibility,' 'Moreover,' 'Furthermore,' and 'To conclude.' However, some cohesion is mechanical or awkward, such as the transitional phrase 'Since, it is very difficult to recover from old age injuries pain, their bones are strong enough,' which misuses logical connectors and creates confusion. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and progression within paragraphs stumbles slightly due to grammatical interference. This performance aligns with Band 6.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully using terms like 'physical flexibility,' 'cardiovascular diseases,' 'financial stability,' and 'leisure time.' However, there are noticeable inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'old age people' instead of 'elderly people,' 'younger age' instead of 'youth,' and 'There preferences change' where the homophone 'Their' was intended. Less common items are attempted with some inaccuracy. While communication is not impeded, these frequent lexical slips prevent the response from reaching Band 7.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The writer uses a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting structures like conditional and comparative patterns (e.g., 'more their habits change, more they get older'). However, control of grammar is inconsistent. There are several grammatical errors and awkward phrasings, such as 'people change their routines' in the opening, 'old age people are not physically flexible as younger generation' (missing articles), 'their health do not allow' (subject-verb agreement error), and 'when people young they prioritize' (missing verb). Punctuation is generally acceptable, but frequent minor grammatical errors place this firmly in the Band 5.5 to 6 range.
