Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is very common for individuals to change both their habits and their perspectives by growing age. There can be several reasons behind this change which will be explained with an argument with my own opinion on the same.
To begin with, people often change their way of living as they become more mature and also it is influence by various condition and environment they are living. For example, a person having a hectic life managing his job and other responsibilities will have separate lifestyle as compared to the same person after 20 years. The reason behind this change is, he will make himself capable to build his own house, may get married, and live in more sophisticated lifestyle and enjoyment. In addition, the same person who did all the hard work for this many years, may think to relax and fulfill their dream at old age because of all the days he spend in struggle. It also have been observed that a person also changes his food habits after a certain period of time and choose a healthy diet option which was avoided in early ages.
In the contrary, there have been some people who thinks opposite of changing anything because they believes it will make them to survive even with more difficulties and due to that, they appreciate living the same monotonous life. For example, a couple thinks to change the country for betterment of life but refuses because of environment change, food habits and many other factors.
In conclusion, when it comes to old people mostly they changes their habits and opinions by growing age and I believe this is universal as it has been observed for many people around us.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by discussing whether people change their habits and opinions as they age, presenting a clear position that they generally do. The writer supports their argument with relevant examples, such as lifestyle changes related to career progression, marriage, and health awareness in later years. However, some ideas are slightly under-developed or expressed with a degree of generalisation. For instance, the paragraph addressing those who resist change lacks deep elaboration. Nevertheless, all parts of the task are addressed and a coherent stance is maintained throughout, satisfying the requirements for Band 6.0.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay has a coherent overall arrangement with a recognisable introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is utilised, although the second body paragraph is quite dense and could have been split for better clarity. Cohesive devices are used, but some transitions feel a bit mechanical or awkward, such as 'In the contrary' instead of 'On the contrary'. Referencing can also occasionally be unclear, as seen in pronoun usage ('he spend', 'their dream'). Overall, the logical progression is present, fitting the Band 6.0 descriptors.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting some less common phrases such as 'sophisticated lifestyle', 'monotonous life', and 'betterment of life'. However, there are noticeable word-choice and collocation errors throughout the response, such as 'by growing age' instead of 'as they grow older', 'influence' instead of 'influenced', and 'choose a healthy diet option which was avoided'. While these inaccuracies do not impede overall communication, they prevent the essay from reaching a higher band, placing it firmly at Band 6.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some variety in structure. However, there are frequent grammatical errors in tense, agreement, and prepositions, such as 'all the days he spend' (spent), 'It also have been observed', and 'thinks opposite of changing anything because they believes'. Punctuation is generally acceptable, but structural inaccuracies are frequent enough to cause occasional difficulty for the reader, which aligns with the Band 5.0 descriptor.
