Student answer (Band 6.0)

With the passage of time, It becomes easier for most of the individuals to alter their habits as well as perspectives. I completely agree with this statement because we learn new things time-to-time. We meet new people in day-to-day life, and adapt various things everytime. In addition, our brain also grows with our age, and make changes to be easily accepted.

Although change is not an easy thing to accept, most people avoid to change themselves, but still we learn little things either directly or indirectly. In particular, when we meet new persons in our life, they could be our friends, neighbours, and family members etc., we try to copy their habits liked by us. Those habits can be good or bad. For instance, when parents see their children doing those activities which they never tried before like dancing, following healthy diet, playing video games, etc., they try to implement those changes in their life. Consequently, parents are learning something which they have not tried yet.

Moreover, Science has also proven that human brain also grows with the age. In detail, humans learn various things whatever they observe around them. In fact, most of the things are easy to learn at certain age, which were not possible durind childhood. Mobile phone plays an important role for better learning. Nowadays, most of the users use mobile phone to learn new skills such as learning new language, using various softwares, and many more. Hence, adapting changes become more easier.

In conclusion, everyday we learn something new from various people and accept those changes. our brain also grows with age.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses the prompt effectively, presenting a clear position that the author completely agrees with the statement. Ideas are extended and supported with relevant examples, such as observing how parents adopt new habits from their children and how technology aids learning over time. While some points are slightly generalized, the overall development satisfies the requirements for Band 6.5 to 7.0. The writer maintains a relevant focus on personal development, habits, and opinions throughout the essay, demonstrating a clear understanding of the task.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay presents a clear logical organisation with an introduction, body paragraphs, and a brief conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'Although', 'In particular', 'Moreover', and 'Hence' are used to connect ideas, although some transitions feel slightly mechanical. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate different arguments, with each body paragraph focusing on a distinct point—social interactions and cognitive growth. Referencing is generally clear, though paragraph transitions could be smoother to achieve a higher band.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common phrases like 'alter their habits', 'cognitive growth', and 'implement those changes'. However, there are noticeable word-choice and collocation errors, such as 'avoid to change themselves' instead of 'avoid changing themselves', and 'adapting changes become more easier' instead of 'adapting to changes becomes easier'. Spelling is generally accurate, but the lexical control fluctuates, placing the response solidly in the Band 6 category.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay displays a mix of simple and complex sentence forms. While the writer attempts complex structures using subordinate clauses ('when we meet new persons in our life'), these attempts are sometimes accompanied by grammatical errors. Notable errors include 'make changes to be easily accepted' and 'human brain also grows with the age' (unnecessary article). Punctuation is mostly functional, but repetition of minor grammatical slips prevents the score from reaching a higher band. Communication of ideas remains clear despite these errors.
