Student answer (Band 6.0)
As people get older, they often change their habits and views. I strongly agree with this statement because when people grow older, they avoid spending time on digital devices and mutl-tasking.
One of the biggest change is that when people are young they spend more time on smartphones and computers for entertainment purpose such as watching series or playing video games. However, once they are getting older, they avoid these activities. This is because, some older people loss their vision strength when they are aging. For example, some people who were good at computer games and used to play for many years avoid playing as they grow older. They believe it reduces focus on other things and make naturally aggressive. This shows that people change their views and habits as aging.
As people grow older, they avoid to do multi-tasking. When people are younger, they tend to do multitasking such as watching videos while studying. This is general habit that people tend to utilise their time by completing multiple things concurrently. The main reason is that younger people are more ambitious. For exmaple, some software engineers work on freelancing projects while they are doing traditional jobs. However, when people get older, they are unable to handle multiple duties. This shows that younger people do multiple things concurrently; however, it will change when they get older as they are unable to do multitasking.
To conclude, Younger people spend more time on digital devices for entertainment and they do multi-tasking to fulfill their desires. This has chnaged once they are getting older as they avoid spending time on digital devices and work on single task.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position that people change their habits and opinions as they get older, supporting this with two main ideas: avoiding digital devices and avoiding multitasking. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive. For instance, the first body paragraph focuses primarily on smartphones and vision loss, while the second discusses multitasking and ambition. While the ideas are relevant, they tend to over-generalise and lack deep elaboration or concrete personal experiences beyond brief, generalised mentions. The introduction is also slightly restrictive as it limits the scope of aging changes strictly to devices and multitasking, whereas the prompt is broader. Overall, the response meets the criteria for Band 6, as it addresses all parts of the task with relevant ideas, though some areas remain under-developed.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay has a clear overall progression with a recognizable introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas. Cohesive devices are employed, such as 'One of the biggest change', 'However', 'This is because', and 'To conclude', which helps guide the reader through the text. However, referencing and cohesion are sometimes mechanical or faulty. For example, the phrase 'One of the biggest change' exhibits a grammatical error in cohesion, and transitional phrases can feel repetitive ('As people grow older...', 'However, when people get older...'). Furthermore, referencing pronouns like 'it' in 'make naturally aggressive' lacks a clear antecedent. Despite these flaws, the logical organization is sufficient to achieve a Band 6, as the progression of ideas is generally clear throughout the text.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully incorporating topic-related terms such as 'digital devices', 'smartphones', 'entertainment purpose', 'software engineers', and 'freelancing projects'. However, there are noticeable vocabulary and spelling errors throughout the text, such as 'mutl-tasking', 'loss' instead of 'lose', 'make naturally aggressive' (missing a pronoun/object), 'For exmaple', and 'chnaged'. Less common lexical items are attempted, but inaccuracies in word choice and collocation prevent the score from reaching a higher band. Nonetheless, the vocabulary used is sufficient to convey the intended meaning without severely impeding communication, fitting the descriptors for Band 6.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, attempting complex forms with clauses of reason and condition, such as 'This is because, some older people loss their vision strength when they are aging' and 'When people are younger, they tend to do multitasking such as watching videos while studying.' However, there are frequent grammatical errors and awkward phrasings, including subject-verb agreement issues ('One of the biggest change is', 'some older people loss', 'make naturally aggressive'), tense inconsistencies ('once they are getting older', 'This has chnaged once'), and preposition errors ('avoid to do' instead of 'avoid doing'). These errors occasionally cause minor strain for the reader, though they do not completely impede communication, placing the grammatical performance firmly at a Band 5.5 to 6.0 level.
