Student answer (Band 5.0)
honestly, I don't agree with this fully as I must say people can change their opinions overtime but habits are the thing that will go all the way to the end yeah people can try to change them, but eventually that's the harder thing for most of the people to change the thing.
Although as you grow old, if you think that some thing is totally wrong but later on an incident happened with you change your mind totally about the thought or opinion you have because I don't think so. Anything permanent in life everything is temporary. Our mind is a great and huge invention of God what might be right for me maybe someone thinks totally wrong.
More over about habits many people try to change their habits over time if they are wrong, but eventually they keep on doing that mistakes because changing habit is a big thing and most of the people quit and doing the same thing because people can't do hard thing if I mention example somebody who likes playing cricket will eventually always be a cricket fan or will always be a cricket Love even if he wants to quit cricket because of his financial situation but that habit will stay in his mind or hard forever.
At the end, I just want to say maybe I am wrong or right this is my opinion about life that if someone wants to change their habits, it can be hard for them to change because people quit early in hard situations.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position that opinions change over time while habits are much harder to alter. The writer attempts to develop ideas regarding personal growth and life experiences, using the example of playing cricket to illustrate the persistence of habits. However, the development is somewhat limited and repetitive, with ideas circling back to the difficulty of change without sufficient extension. There is also a tendency to drift into informal, conversational rambling ('honestly', 'yeah', 'if I mention example'), which impacts the overall academic or formal tone expected in IELTS tasks. Nevertheless, all parts of the prompt are addressed to a minimally acceptable standard, aligning with Band 5.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The organization of the text lacks clear logical progression, and the formatting is severely hindered by the lack of proper paragraphing. The response is written in dense, irregular blocks of text rather than distinct paragraphs with clear thematic divisions. Cohesive devices are either repetitive or used inaccurately, such as starting sentences with conversational connectors like 'More over' and 'At the end'. Referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the flow of arguments smoothly. Although there is an overall attempt to structure a response with an introduction, body, and conclusion, the mechanical and faulty cohesion places this section firmly at Band 4.5, rounded to 5.0 based on general organizational effort.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, frequently relying on simple words and phrases such as 'change their habits', 'things', and 'people'. There are noticeable errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'quit and doing the same thing' instead of 'quit doing the same thing' and referring to a cricket fan as a 'cricket Love'. While the vocabulary is minimally adequate to convey basic meaning, the lack of a wider range and the presence of errors that cause some difficulty for the reader restrict this criterion to Band 5.0. To improve, the writer needs to incorporate less common lexical items and ensure accurate word forms and collocations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
The grammatical range is limited, relying heavily on a mix of simple sentences and long, run-on complex structures that lack proper punctuation and control. For instance, sentences like 'Although as you grow old, if you think that some thing is totally wrong but later on an incident happened with you change your mind totally...' demonstrate severe structural faults and a lack of subordination control. Frequent errors in punctuation, tense consistency, and subject-verb agreement are present throughout the text, which often impede communication and require the reader to re-read to grasp the intended meaning. These frequent grammatical breakdowns correspond to a Band 4.0 descriptor.
