Student answer (Band 6.0)

Over the last decade human behaviour has changed drastically. It is often argued that human's age has a greater impact on their behaviour and thinking pattern. I agree with the statement because when people get older their ideas and actions transform according to their responsibilities and their life experiences.

To begin with, when people getting old, their responsibilities change according to their status. Kids are more focus on their studies, teenagers are focus on their higher studies and career targets. However, when they come to age twenty-five or thirty, they are more focusing on finding a life partner or career development. By the time individuals focus move to look after their children, buying a house and to have a stable income. These life stage movements change society's responsibilities and ultimately these will affect to their habits and opinions. As example, younger kid's visit to library weekly but elders visit to hospitals and workplaces.

Another thing is people's experiences. When they get older they have many life experiences which change their personality. It is really different the way a less experince person look at the world. Therefore, their thinking and actions are different from experienced person. For instance, experienced businessman's approach towards new market trend different from inexperienced businessman. Thus, life experiances change people's habits and opinions.

In conclusion, over the time people's behaviour and thinking pattern changed because of their responsibilities changes and life experiences. I agree with this statement as life stage changes has a high impact on human's habits and opinions.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt directly, taking a clear position that people change their habits and opinions as they age due to responsibilities and experiences. The main ideas are supported with examples, such as how children focus on studies while adults focus on families and careers. However, some of the ideas are slightly underdeveloped or rely on broad generalisations, such as the comparison between younger kids visiting libraries and elders visiting hospitals. To reach a higher band, the arguments could have been explored with deeper depth and more precise real-world examples. Nevertheless, all parts of the task are addressed adequately, fulfilling the requirements for a Band 6.0.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall arrangement with an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas, such as responsibilities in paragraph two and life experiences in paragraph three. Cohesive devices are employed, such as 'To begin with', 'Another thing is', and 'In conclusion', though some of these transitional phrases feel a bit mechanical or simplistic. Referencing is generally clear, but logical progression within paragraphs occasionally stumbles due to awkward phrasing or minor cohesive lapses. Overall, the essay demonstrates sufficient coherence and cohesion to meet the criteria for a Band 6.0.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully conveying general concepts related to age, life stages, and habits. There are several attempts to use less common vocabulary, such as 'drastically', 'responsibilities', and 'personality'. However, there are notable word-choice and collocation errors throughout the text, such as 'human's age' instead of 'age', 'kids are more focus' instead of 'focused', and 'life experiances' which contains a spelling error. Despite these inaccuracies, communication is never impeded, placing the lexical range firmly at a Band 5.5.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response displays a mix of simple and complex sentence forms. The writer attempts complex structures using dependent clauses and conditional ideas, such as 'when people get older their ideas and actions transform according to their responsibilities'. However, grammatical accuracy is inconsistent. There are frequent errors in subject-verb agreement and word forms, such as 'when people getting old', 'younger kid's visit', and 'responsibilities changes'. Punctuation and article usage also show occasional flaws. Because the errors occur frequently throughout the text but rarely impede overall understanding, this performance corresponds to a Band 5.5.
