Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing why people change habits and opinions as they age, expressing a clear agreement with the statement. The writer provides some relevant ideas, such as gaining experience from past mistakes and adopting new health routines or technologies like electronic banking. However, the ideas are under-developed and lack sufficient extension. Furthermore, the response suffers from a significant length penalty because it fails to meet the minimum requirement of 250 words, coming in at only 226 words. Consequently, the task is only partially addressed, leading to a Band 5.0 score for Task Achievement.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is divided into paragraphs, but the overall organization and logical progression are hindered by mechanical and faulty cohesive devices. The writer attempts to link ideas using phrases such as 'In my opinion', 'The main rational behind this', and 'In conclusion', but referencing and transitions are often awkward. For instance, the transition 'In other word, they used machine and online equipment' disrupts the flow of the argument. Paragraphing is attempted, but the grouping of ideas lacks smooth logical progression, resulting in a Band 5.0 for Coherence and Cohesion.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The student displays a limited vocabulary range that is minimally adequate for the task. There are noticeable spelling and word choice errors throughout the text, such as 'lif experience' instead of 'life experience', 'rational' instead of 'rationale', 'habbits' instead of 'habits', and 'technalagy' instead of 'technology'. Some attempts are made to use less common words like 'curiosity' and 'development', but frequent errors in collocation and spelling cause some difficulty for the reader and prevent the score from reaching a higher band. A score of 5.0 is appropriate.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but control over grammar is weak. There are frequent errors in verb tense, subject-verb agreement, and punctuation, such as missing spaces after commas ('decades, there', 'mistakeand'), missing articles ('go bank physically', 'use electronic bank'), and incorrect verb forms ('humanas are update their life'). Complex structures often contain faults, and basic punctuation rules are frequently overlooked. While the meaning is usually retrievable, the high frequency of errors places this response firmly at Band 5.0 for Grammatical Range and Accuracy.
