IELTS Writing Task 2 question

It is very common for people to change both their habits and their opinions as they get older.

Do you agree or disagree?

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

In the contemporary era, the trend of individuals changing their thoughts and actions as they becoming older is a subject of intense discourse. Although few people still behave the same in their oldage, majority elders like to change themselves with the trend. In my opinion, I firmly believe that a lot of elder people like to alter their decisions for the sake of family.

On the one hand, Some people want to stick with their opinion at any situation. The most prominent reason is that they trust themselves more and these kind of seniors are more confident to take challenging decisions. Although these kind of individuals has some merit, they do feel alone while achieving their desire. For an instance, these kind of mature people had to fight against their family members to prove them right. This leads to distrubances in the family.

On the other hand, others argue that co-operating with family members and involing in decision making arguments to choose the better idea required for the house members. Take an illustraion; Senior members should be able to accept the better solution according to the situation given by any one from the family should make them unite and successful. So, rather than thinking they are always correct. these people should analyse the situation and choosing or agreeing to suitable resolutions to solve a problem.

In conclusion, Although there are fewer advantages for standing on their point and not changing their behaviour has few advantages to show their never give up personality and true characters, there are more drawbacks if they possess this kind of attitude. In my opinion, I completely agree with people who can able to change their activities and alter their decisions while getting older has more advantages than the others.
